Chie sighed in utter bliss as her stomach growled impatiently. She inhaled deeply, savoring the aroma of a freshly cooked steak piled high with spices. She could hear the faint sizzle of the meat so recently taken off the grill. Before her was an enormous bowl, the specialty of the little shop known as Aya. Not quite as grand as their legendary rainy day meat bowl, the Beef Bowl was still a substantial amount of delicious meat over cooked rice and assorted vegetables. This was a rare treat straight from Heaven, and it should be savored. Chie stared at the platter before her a moment longer, than clapped her hands briefly together in a prayer of thanks, stanched her chopsticks with lightning speed and began to feast as if there was no tomorrow.
Under normal circumstances, the Beef Bowl was a rare treat a little too expensive for Chie's meager allowance. But circumstances were a little different today. More so than she realized.
