“ ‘Bout forty minutes. Allison wants to resume practice. Come on.” Jen replied, already making her way upstairs.

Crystal began to reposition herself right-side up when she realized she was sleeping on Jen’s old bed. The room was definitely surreal to the guitarist’s mind. It seemed to depict the evolution of her friend’s personality. A toy chest, unopened for years, doubled as a table for a video game console that had been unplayed for just as long. The pink wooden walls were plastered with layers of band posters, shifting from cute teen heartthrobs to the best rockers of today and yesterday. The top-most layer of posters tended to deviate with some goth bands and close-ups of tanks. Crystal wanted to question Jen why she didn’t place the poster they did for first concert but she never pressed it. It was a bit amateur-looking anyway and the posters would get better once they hired a publicity department. Perhaps they should hire a manager first? Maybe they should get another gig before anything else.

It had been a few months since their last performance and college took up most of Total Breakdown’s time. Well, summer was here and that meant that the band could start to build up their reputation once more. It also meant that it was as hot as Hell today. The forecast was a muggy hundred-and-two degrees but that number was surpassed before noon. Luckily, Crystal had dress for the occasion. Clad in only a rainbow tank top and jean shorts, with sunscreen to protect the exposed areas, the guitarist could still feel comfortable despite the heat. However, the blue haired girl felt a bit off sitting on the childhood sheets of her friend in jeans and nothing else. She had a pair of underwear and an extra set of clothes for the sleepover Aimee convinced Jen to host at her parents’ house. The idea seemed a bit childish but nice, nonetheless: practice till three, pizza by five, hang out with the family at six and bandmate bonding time at eight. Honestly, Crystal was thankful that she didn’t need to leave the house to do anything and that no one had discovered how undressed she truly was.

The guitarist decided get off of her band member’s bed and look around her room once more. It was interesting how secluded it felt. There was half a flight of stairs to climb to reach the rest of the house and a door that opened to a backyard which could fit an additional house in said space but, instead, contained various outdoor activities and a slide. Jen had told her that this room used to be her father’s study where he would write moderate hit after moderate hit. It was his literary success that allowed the family of four to continue living in this house. Of course, the fact that Jen’s mother was the senior executive to his publishing company helped the matter.

Crystal giggled under her breath as she walked up the stairs. Unfortunately, she didn’t notice that the exit was being blocked until she happened to bump into the person in question. Both the guitarist and the poor individual tumbled onto the living room carpet. When Crystal opened her eyes, she found herself...
