This choice: Same Idea, But with Anthros Instead • Go Back...Chapter #5Ungulates Alive by: Unknown (Note: This is a Mutual Metamorphosis story, but with animals in place of supernatural creatures)
It was a peaceful evening after dinner in Zoomtown. Our story takes place in the home of a married couple, that is to say a same-sex married couple. This was the family of Elisa and Dominique Ventura. They had been married for several years now and had an adoptive son named Jeremy. Elisa at that moment was in the living room watching the television. She was a tall African American woman with long dark bluish black hair that appeared to be glowing in the light. Dominique was a tall Caucasian woman with long red hair and blue eyes that looked like they were glowing with her red mascara. At the moment she was washing dishes in the kitchen. She turned her head slightly and saw that Jeremy was busy reading a textbook of some kind.
“Jeremy,” said Dominique. “You’ve been looking at that textbook all day. It’s time for bed.” “But Dominique,” said Jeremy. “In three weeks, we have a research paper due.” “Giving out research papers in 4th grade,” said Elisa as she walked up to her son. “They should save it for high school.” Elisa looked down and noticed Jeremy was reading a textbook on wild animals. “Zoology?” asked Elisa. “That’s right,” said Jeremy. “Mr. Burns is having us write research papers on African animals and gave each student a choice between two different animals to choose from. That pervert is always giving these crazy assignments.” Dominique dropped a plate in the sink when she heard her son’s words. “Jeremy, do you even know what “pervert” means?” “No. But I heard the neighbors calling him that. What does it mean?” Dominique bit her lip, wanting to change the subject as fast as possible. “Uh, what two animals were you assigned?” Jeremy let out a groan. “I have to choose between writing a report on hippopotami or writing a report on cape buffalos.”
Elisa was suddenly very interested. “Well, that’s easy enough. If I were you I’d go with the buffalo.” Jeremy then turned to face Dominique. “Personally,” said Dominique. “I prefer hippos. The first thing to know about either choice however, Jeremy, is that both of those animals are extremely dangerous. They’d kill you if you provoked them.” “Really?” Elisa nodded her head. “Just because an animal doesn’t eat meat doesn’t mean it’s harmless. Remember, they’re herbivores but they’re BIG herbivores. But mind Dominique. It’s time for you to rest. Remember, you have school tomorrow and you’re not staying up all night wracking your brain around this issue.” Elisa kissed her son right before Jeremy smiled and walked upstairs to bed.
Once Jeremy was in bed, Elisa walked up to Dominique in the kitchen. “Personally,” said Elisa. “I’d recommend the report on the cape buffalo.” “And why might I ask would that be?” “Because the African buffalo is one of the most unbeatable animals in Africa. They can even kill lions. They come in herds that contain 50 to 3000 members and protect the herd so well that nothing can get them. Anyone stupid enough to hunt a buffalo gets a violent death on their 6-foot long horns of doom.”
Dominique let out a laugh. “That may be true, but hippos are more dangerous. They’re the third largest land animal on the planet, can open their mouths at an angle of 150 degrees and when they get enraged they bite boats in half. They kill more people a year than lions or crocodiles. They can run up to 20 MPH.” “So what, African buffalos reach 35 MPH. And they only sleep 2-10 minutes at a time.” “Well hippos secrete a blood-like sweat to protect from the sun. Did you know that they brought them to fight gladiators in ancient Rome.” Elisa let out a laugh. “Well, that report isn’t for a while so Jeremy still has time to decide on a topic. And it’s going to be buffalo.” Dominique rolled her eyes. “That’s what you think, Honey.” “Oh, I’m sure it will be African buffalos. You’re just being defensive because hippos are your favorite animals. I’m so certain that Jeremy will decide on a report on African buffalos that I’ll do the dishes every night for 3 months if he chooses a report on hippos.” Dominique just let out a laugh at her wife’s words. “Oh, it’s on, Elisa.” Both women let out a laugh.
Of course, fate can be a strange thing. That night, Elisa and Dominique were about to get ready for bed and as Dominique was brushing her teeth, she felt her canine teeth and noticed something off. “Elisa, Honey,” said the redhead. “Do my teeth look sharper to you.” Elisa was brushing her hair as she shrugged her shoulders. “You’re probably just imagining it, Dom.” However, as Elisa pulled her brush from her hair, she looked in surprise because for some reason all of the teeth on the brush were completely destroyed. “Huh?” she didn’t realize it, but she also appeared to have sprouted a long black furred tail like that of an African buffalo. Dominique and Elisa then made their way into their bed but as Dominique got into the bed, she heard one of the legs snap off. As Dominique looked down to investigate it, Elisa noticed her wife’s nightie looked a little tight on her. “Whoa, Dominique,” said Elisa. “Gotta cut back on the devil dogs.” Dominique then smirked. “Oh yeah. Look at that jelly belly.” Elisa felt her stomach and realized that Dominique was speaking the truth. “Oh my,” said Elisa. “I must’ve been eating too many donuts.” Dominique just smirked and poked her wife in the chest. “You’re starting to look like a buffalo yourself.” “Well, goodnight, my hippo honeybun.” Both lovers let out a laugh before falling asleep, unaware that a transformation was taking place.
