The sun rested on the horizon as it provided an unearthly glow to the Citadel. " Mother, I don't want to go!" Vega shouted as his mother wiped tears from her eyes as she kneeled down. " I.. I know, my love... But this your calling in life... Its what you shall become... I love you so very much." She hugged Vega close for what seemed forever, then felt all too brief. She gently placed her hand under his chin so he would look to her as she took off her necklace, placing it in his hand. " I believe in you, my Vega." As she spoke he took in her every detail how the shadow brightened her brown hair, and how her green eyes looked into his. He was taken out of the trance by the loud sound of the large door slowly opening. Two heavily armored men now stood before him, their seemingly faceless appearance making him fallow them in without a word.
Vega stood in the large hallway staring blankly at the floor. " Welcome little one. You must be, Vega Bacara, correct?" He jolted back to reality an replied with a meager "yes". Standing before him stood a young woman in a long brown robe, her long blonde hair creating a flowing underneath her ornate crest. " We expect great things from you. Please walk with me, I would like to walk with you." With that she turned slowly on her heel as she motioned for him to follow her.
Vega fallowed her down the corridor. He looked to either sides to see sprawling librarys with many people sitting at desks. " Youve been born into dark times. A sharp mind could be the key to survival." He staired in awa. On one side were kids around his age, the other side were older people. As they walked a bit further the sound of clashing metal sounded. In a large courtyard were lots of people sparring. One in particular was a brutal fistfight between two men as others cheered. " But it will be your inherent physical traits that win the day." With that one fighter tackled the other, ending the fight.
They walked up a spiral staircase as his mind flooded with curiosity. " You shall be a Sangil Warrior, something truly special. Your weapons, your armor, and most importantly your brothers. Hunters fight together too bring down much larger prey, so to shall you." They now stood in a small room with three beds and two the children his age. " And now, join your new family. Samwell Toran." She motions towards the taller boy who nodded warmingly. " And Talia Shawn." The girl waved sheepishly at him. " Go now and speak with them. I shall see you in the morning."
As she walked out an armored man who stood a head taller then the woman entered who bore the crest of a bull. " Ah, so your the new kid. Well its curfew." He spoke bluntly as the other two children quickly got in bed. " But I just got her. I don't want to go to bed." Vega stated defiantly. The man stopped in his tracks as the other two kids looked back in fear. He slowly turned around, he took the necklace from his hand and seemingly inspected it. Untel a loud crack could be heard.
Vega no longer felt sorrow, but anger as he tried to strike the man. He felt the man harshly knee him in the chest as he fell to the floor. " Good, remember that hate. one day it will fuel you. Now go to bed." Vega did so, but still focused on hate as he fell asleep.
