After your statement, you quickly change back into a guy. Looking down at yourself, you breath a sigh of relief. Everything seems to be normal.
With that, dinner proceeds as usual. To avoid making any more mistakes, you just nod your head during your family's conversations. Although you probably should head upstairs and cross out the sentence you wrote, your parents tended to be pretty strict about leaving the dinner table. Besides, you were almost finished.
You stand up, plate in hand, when your mom clears her throat. "James," she says, "your report card came in the mail today. Before your father and I open it, we wanted to ask: how are your grades this semester?"
"Oh, umm..." you replied, feeling a bit nervous. You were sitting at mostly C's with a couple B's, not great but not the worst. Impulsively, you say "They're pretty good!" before realizing what you just did.
Your mom tears open the letter, revealing that your grades are all D's and F's! "James!" she says in shock. "Why would you lie to us?"
"Son, what's going on? Do you need a tutor?" your father asks. They both look shocked and concerned.
Stammering, you say "N-no! I don't need a tutor! I'm more than smart enough to get my grades up!" After you say this, you feel a pit in your stomach.
'Oh shit...' you think to yourself, before your brain feels foggy. Your thoughts slow down considerably, and you suddenly forget most of what happened today at school. What did you do when you got home? Was there something about a pen? Something about a pen was really important, and you started thinking hard trying to remember what it was.
"James!" your mother said, almost shouting.
"Wha-what?" you asked, confused.
"Finally. You spaced out again, we've been trying to get your attention."
"Oh wow, uhh, my bad."
"It's fine. We're going to get you a tutor, so you can hopefully get these grades up. Sound good?"
"Thanks. Can I go to my room?"
"Sure James. If you need help turning on your computer again, let one of us know."
You nodded, and walked up the stairs still holding your dinner plate. After entering your room, you threw the dinner plate in the trash, not knowing what else to do with it. You also noticed a pen sitting on the table, next to a sheet of paper...
