Lupe sighed as she walked back into her home, she loved the Pack dearly but at times being Grandchief was nothing more than a headache and a chore. Land disputes, petty squabbles over food even though there was more than enough to go around, children arguing, it was all so frustrating. She stood in the doorway, staring wistfully into her large but empty home, being Grandchief while mostly advantageous had some notable flaws, namely no wolf within 5 miles thought they were good enough for her. The one wolf she approached had treated her invitation to have a meal as if it were some sacred privilege rather than a date. She sighed, taking one more look before briskly walking through her home and onto her private balcony that overlooking her nation, sighing she rested on the balcony and gazed up at the night's sky. Gazing up at the sky her attention was immediately captured by the North Star, memories of ancient legends about the star surfaced, about its power to grant wishes, to give those whose desires were true, their heart's deepest desire. Lupe sighed as she stared up at the star "stories for pups" she muttered to herself, "but what have I got to lose." Taking in a breath she entrusted her most heartfelt desire to the star in the form of a simple wish. "Oh North Star, hear my plea, all I ask for is a man who will cherish and love me, his stature does not matter, what matters is the size of his heart." She looked up to the star for a few seconds, and seeing nothing, sighed "I guess wishes don't come true" she thought before stripping and turning in for the night.
Across time and space our protagonist sighed as he sat back on a grassy knoll examining the night sky, he hated light pollution as it made the sky an inky curtain of black, rather than the beautiful canvas it should be. Overhead stars twinkled and danced across the night's sky, painting upon the canvas a picture so majestic and beautiful as to be unmatched by human hands. The serenity of the night was interrupted momentarily as a star seemed to wink into existence, focusing his attention on this new star he noticed that it was quite a bit brighter than the other stars, nestled in between a small nebula all its own. He suddenly felt the urge to yawn, and as he stared the feeling of sleep intensified, slowly his eyes began to fall the darkness of the night being replaced by the inside of his eyelids. Finally his eyes closed as he fell into unconsciousness..
