At the end of a long patrol Rebecca's feet were hurting.
Unlike some of her fellow officers she preferred to patrol her beet on foot rather than sit in a car waiting for something to be reported. This way she heard about things that didn't seem serious enough for the public to phone it in or was screened out by the dispatchers.
Tonight she had heard tales of strange noises near the local rest home. It could just be a bunch of kids playing about in the woods that backed onto the home or it might be more interesting. More interesting to Rebecca Jones because a number of missing women seemed to have some connection to the home.
But she'd also been told by an old homeless lag that he'd recognised an 'odd' character from his time in the forces. This was a man who had, if rumour was to believed, been discharged for collecting and allegedly eating parts of fallen enemy soldiers and civilians.
All in all it had been a good shift, but she wasn't sure if she had the energy to investigate further tonight.
