"It's okay, Carla. I know you're worried about me, but we need help as soon as possible. These things could threaten a whole lot more people if they make it to the mainland. People need to be warned. And we need backup here. So please...go as fast as you can." Wendy says.
"I...I will" Carla throws her arms around Wendy. "Please...be careful."
"It's okay. I'm not the same weak girl I used to be."
Wendy follows Carla outside. Carla assumes her cat form again and, with a last look at Wendy, soars into the sky and towards the mainland.
"There she goes," Wendy says sadly. She returns inside to the rest of the women. "So...what now?"
"Well...we've been living on this ship for the last week or so. It's not exactly comfortable, but knowing help is on the way will raise spirits a bit, at least" Felicia answers.
"How are you for supplies here?" Wendy asks.
"Well...truth be told we ran out of food on the boat yesterday. And our water filter appears to be broken..."
"I see..."
"How long do you think it will take for your friend to get help and come back?"
"It's hard to say. Flying here is faster than sailing, that's for sure. And we have no food...or much water. Tell me...are there supplies at the camp?"
"Yes, but..."
"Food, water and clothes. Enough to last until Carla can make it back. Plus...if I can get that tablet I can take a look at it. Maybe I can figure something out. At the very least I'd have it to give to Levy if she shows up, so maybe we can know what to do before going in there."
"It's too dangerous. You should just stay on the ship. It might be a little uncomfortable, but I think we can hold out until your friend returns." Felicia pleads.
Wendy thinks. Once again, none of her choices are great. She can stay on the ship with everyone, hoping the monsters don't adapt somehow to attack them and also hope they can stretch their meager rations long enough for Carla to arrive with rescue. Or she could brave the island again, attempting to gather supplies, info and maybe that tablet to give them an edge. She supposed she could also ask if one of the girls was willing to help her and perhaps recover more from the camp.
