Dick Bronzon's plan was finally coming to completion. He was going to saves is country from the tyranny of dastardly foreigners. He was going to was going to be bigger hero then Wellington, Nelson and Alfred the great combined. It had took months of effort and he had to kill a couple of dozen people to keep it secret but the time had now come he was going to blow up the European parliament, all the interfering bureaucratic ministries, the courts the deny him his right to to place his culture above that of insidious foreigners and the whole appeasing city with it.

Far removed from his target he gave one last look at the imperial capital and pressed the button to erase his latest attempt annex Europe and braced for the explosion.

He waited

and waited some more

Where was the bang?

He looked for a camera he'd installed to see that nothing was moved and saw that while the boom was gone rather then turning into storm of cleansing patriotic fire a portal had appeared. It sparkled with electricity and constantly changed colour like the skin of cuttlefish and going all out.

What horrible alien force do those foreigner plan to unleash against gods choose people now? He thought.

...

"Sir there was a huge energy build-up in sector 43.1457, the natives call it "Brussels,"" said a spider dangling from the light blue thread of a junior technician. And his legs and and his very complex pedipalps danced across the the key boards that surrounded him.

"Did you redirect it" said a spider handing from the deep red of command.

"Yes, every joule of it. However to get enough bandwidth to do it I had to expand the nearest portal to a size where the natives will be able to use it. It will take several rotations for it to decay to the level that they can no longer detect it," informed the technician.

"Are they likely to discover it?" asked the commander

"Chances are 99.998%, also representatives and leaders from all the nations of the local political and economic union are present knowledge of it will quickly become global" analysed the technician.

"First contact procedures must go ahead now. It is unfortunate that we did not have more time to perfect the technology to allow us to interact with creatures on their scale, their safety is assured but I am afraid we will prove more alarming to some of them then if we had more time to prepare," reassure the commander.

"Should I have an away team be prepared?" asks the technician.

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. Yes, and I will lead it

*Noteb*
2. No, we will make our side of portal as welcoming as possible

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
