In the 22nd century human began to settle upon mars. As they settled they quickly found more and more evidence of an ancient civilization of giant flies. This civilization reached at tech level of about 1950s on earth. However there were no fossil fuels so rocket were never invented. This civilization was hundreds of millions of years ago and ended suddenly with no sign of any war or any other disaster and no bodies were found dating to close to the end.
Whilst digging the tunnel for a vacuum tube between the colonies set up by Germany and India the came across something. It was purest black and utterly indestructible. They dug around it can eventually found an entrance.
Inside a they quickly noticed a few things. The space was a lot bigger on the inside, it didn't seem to end. Spider webs with trees growing amongst it stretch in all directions, there were abundant large and juicy fruits. After checking they were safe they ate them, they were delicious.
They soon saw thousands of giant flies coming towards them. They came close enough to look but would get closer then about 50ft. Their was no sign of aggression. They then started doing the thing where then aligned themselves vertically and started spinning around, archaeologists can determined this and something like prayer.
They then felt a wave of benevolence and suddenly and web forest parted leaving a city sized gap. Into that gap came a giant green spider. When the spider communicated with them it wasn't with words, the meanings were directly added to their memory and questioned were answered as soon as they thought of them.
They soon learned what had happened.
The fly civilization had a resurgence in the interest in their ancient history, a time when many many different gods were worshiped, whether they actually existed wasn't clear. Such was the interest in gods they decided to make one. Another fly would favor one group one they other so they chose a member of the planets favorite pet species, the emerald petable spider. It started out as just a regular member of species, about the size of guinea pig but they more people worshiped in the bigger smart kinder and better in every way it got. Within a week it was the De Jure ruler of the world, having become the de facto ruler and couple of days sooner. It built a temple for itself were it would change the laws of physics to whatever is needed. Soon everyone moved into the temple. Whilst the temple was never shut within a few generations less and less people bothered to leave a everything was better in their.
Mars lost its atmosphere and became the barren world it is today. All living things were evacuated to the temple. In the temple everyone was immortal and lived as perfect life as regular beings can stand. Population rose exponentially and the spider grew to max. The inside of the temple is now far larger then the universe outside it. Many millions of different species have slowly evolved to sapience. All under the care of spider so large each firing of a neuron causes a flood of new universes to come into being.
The spider explains that it just stay in the temple less in fill and destroy the multiverse, it was out of practice with the physical of secular space and so couldn't do it safely. Instead it will create a daughter of itself with the same growth from worship powers it has to look after the external universe.
A guinea pig sized bright green spider appeared before them.
"Hello earthlings, I really want to see what your civilization is like" greeted the spider godling.
