As you fly towards Emma’s body, you get this strange feeling as if you shouldn’t be doing this, so you hold back and take things a little slower. Still you’re traveling at a pretty quick pace, and just as you reach Emma’s body you lose all acceleration and speed and fall to the ground. Your head hurts pretty badly, and it feels like you just ran into a brick wall.
“Ow!” You exclaim as you attempt to reach for your pounding head. Only you suddenly realize you can’t move your arm. What’s going on? You try to stand back up on your two feet, but you can’t do that either. You’re stuck on the ground just looking up at the sky.
“Hey, what’s going on!?!” You ask as panic begins to set in.
“Wow, you must be pretty weak. Are you okay?” The familiar voice of Emma asks.
“No, I can’t move any of my limbs. What’s going on.”
Suddenly Emma’s head comes into view as she stands over you. “I can’t believe it, you really are…” She paused for a second. “Okay, so here’s what happened then. When you tried to enter my body you were immediately pushed out as the gap between our powers is vastly different, and well, you’ve shed your spirit form.”
“What? What do you mean I shed my spirit form?” At your question Emma looked around for a moment seemingly searching for something.
“Oh! Hold on just a second.”
“Hey, don’t leave me here.” You shouted to no avail.
A few moments later Emma returned holding up a piece of broken glass that was likely from a mirror. “See? You shed your spirit form. You’re simply a naked soul now.”
You gazed upon your reflection in the broken mirror to see a small orb of blue light flickering weakly. “Th...that’s me?”
“Yes. It seems that when you collided with me you sustained enough damage that you lost your shape. Still, to think that this happened even after I relaxed my spiritual defenses is crazy. You must be exceptionally weak. The only way to regain your spiritual form is to possess another body, and even then it will take a while. You can fly, can’t you?”
Emma’s words filled you with dread. First you lost your identity, and now you even lost your very shape. You slowly lifted off of the ground and rotated towards Emma, completely at a loss on what to do. “We can just try again right? Make sure you relax your defenses completely this time.”
“No can do. You might actually be erased from existence if you try again with my body. Maybe you should try an easier target. Hmm...” Emma looked around for a moment before her eyes widened. “Oh I know! Come with me.” Without any warning Emma grabbed you with both of her hands and started to sprint.
“Hey! Where are you taking me?” You shouted, only Emma ignored you completely. Minutes passed as you finally arrived at an alleyway. Emma then let go of you and pointed towards a sleeping cat.
“Look!” She whispered. “Try and enter that sleeping cat. Animals are known to be more attuned to the spirit world, and in addition to being easier for spiritual entities such as yourself to possess, the fact that it’s asleep will make it even easier. You should have no trouble now!”
“Alright then, let’s see if this works!” And with that you dashed towards the black cat as you could feel yourself begin to seep into it’s flesh, albeit very slowly. “I…I think it’s working.” You said as you pushed yourself in deeper. A few moments later and you had entered the cat entirely.
