Open Door

Lilith smacked aside an approaching zombie with a broken board as she and her new acquaintances slowly retreated away from the broken open front door of the bar. The night before she had been drinking when she ran into a small group of bikers passing through and started a fight with them. They had been way too smashed to remember most of what happened, let alone who won, but after another round of drinks they had quickly become buddies.

"Another dozen or so and we'll be done." a tall man in his late 40s called as he slammed a barstool over the head of a bloody teenager. "Shit Mike, there might be a dozen more just down the fucking street!" a younger man with a mustache called as he kicked a skinny man into the jukebox and stomped his mangled face in.

"Relax Dan, we got this. Besides, our new friend here has killed more than either of us." Mike replied as he gave a quick nod towards Lilith. The large wave of zombies that had stirred them from their hungover sleep had been at least thirty strong when it first arrived. Now it was down to about half a dozen.

"Both of you shut the hell up." a man named Eddie suddenly called as he threw a knife into the chest of a fat man who had just entered the bar behind a crawling woman who was missing her lower half. "Shit, Eddie. It took you five minutes to get the closet open?" Mike asked as he kicked one of the last zombies over to Lilith so she could put it down with her board.

"Sorry boss, me and Ming had trouble getting the damn thing unjammed. There weren't any weapons inside anyway, Ming's still checking it out though." Eddie replied as he fist-bumped his buddy Dan and admired the carnage the trio had left in their wake. "Shit, you guys do all this by yourselves?" He asked as Lilith crushed the skull of the last corpse to walk in.

"Thank Lilly for this mess, she really kicked some ass." Mike said with a laugh as he gave Lilith a high five. "I figure somebody has to take care of you pussies." Lilith said with a smirk as she threw the board to the ground and shivered a little. "That closet have any coats in it? This wind is fuckin' cold."

"Not unless one of those boxes has some." Eddie said with a shrug. "We need to leave soon anyway, as much as I love a drink this whole place is exposed to the elements... and worse." The others were silent a moment as Mike poured himself a beer and leaned against the front counter.

"I agree with Eddie. No way we can defend this place with a busted door like that." he finally said as he took a long drink from his glass of beer. "Look at that fuckin' snow coming down, if the zombies don't get us that cold damn sure will."

Dan frowned as he grabbed a beer for himself. "Where the hell will we go? There must be hundreds of those things all over the whole goddamn town." Mike shook his head and looked out the doorway. "I ain't got a clue, but we need to find somewhere else. If we wait here another day or two we might get snowed in, and I don't think we could live off of the alcohol until help arrives."

"If help arrives." Eddie said grimly. "I'm gonna go check on Ming, what do you think Lil?"

Lilith took a seat at one of the few intact barstools and lit up a cigarette. "I like Mike's idea, but maybe staying here for now is the right answer... give me a minute to think."

You have the following choices:
