Chapter #2

The Swimming Pool

    by: Unknown
Tote bag in hand, Jessica left her new home for the local pool only a few blocks away. Though she usually preferred heels and meticulous makeup before going out, she forewent them for a trip to the pool. It was no use touching up her make up only to get in the pool, and silly to walk back from the pool in high heels. So, instead, she was sans make up and wearing flip flops. She felt a touch under dressed, a tad exposed, but also a little excited.

She took her time in her walk, enjoying the sun and tying her hair back in a tight ponytail.

At the pool she briefly considered telling the skinny, lanky-haired boy at the counter that she was thirteen and thus young enough for the child's admission price, but stopped herself. The three dollar discount wasn't worth destroying all the work she'd done not to be seen as a child. A quick change in the locker room later and she was making her way to the pool, her sleek, black, one-piece swimming suit clinging to her like a second skin.

She started with a several laps, pulling herself along the lanes with long, sure strokes. She took a few dives, enjoying the feeling of a well-executed dive, relishing the cold, clear water on the hot day. She was considering between another set of laps or lounging on the poolside when a sharp crack of a voice intruded upon her relaxing morning.

"That's you too, missy! Out of the pool, it's time to go!"

Jessica looked up to see the most matronly woman she'd ever seen. A large-hipped, large-breasted woman in an unflattering one-piece and a showercap had her thick fists on her formidable hips and was glowering at her.

Jessica put on her best smile. It wasn't the first time she'd been mistaken for someone else, and she'd perfected her response. But before she could get a word out, the matron bent, grasped Jessica under her armpits and hauled her out of the pool.

"Move it!" shouted the matron, punctuating her order with a firm slap to Jessica's wet-swimsuit-clad behind.

Jessica yelped and hurried to the locker rooms along with a gaggle of girls who were clearly part of a school group.
