This choice: Cassie Rousseau, an Amazonian bodybuilder.  •  Go Back...
Chapter #3

Cassie Rousseau, an Amazonian bodybuilder.

    by: Wassel Author IconMail Icon
"...a young woman by the name of Cassandra Rousseau."

Cassandra Rousseau...? you thought. Not recognizing the name at all, other than the fact it sounded kind of French. "Who the hell is that?"

"She was involved in the same car accident as you and your family. Two cars back," Saunders informed you. "She hit her head off the steering wheel when the driver in front abruptly slammed on his brakes. The impact of which ruptured a small blood clot in her brain, resulting in her having an aneurysm. By the time she arrived at the hospital it was already too late for us to do anything..."

"For Ms. Rousseau that is," Kerry again piped up, seemingly having a far easier time discussing medical matters than emotional ones. "Not for Allison." Explaining then that, other than the aforementioned blood clot, Cassandra Rousseau was in peak physical condition (rather stressing this point in fact), therefore making her the ideal candidate for the transplant that had apparently saved your girlfriend's life.

"So Allison is this... is this Cassandra woman now?" you asked. "She's really inside her body?" It being an almost impossible idea to actually wrap your head around. Your girlfriend suddenly being someone else.

"Yes," Kerry nodded. "And as stated before, the operation was a resounding success and her brain is adapting quite well to her new body." Looking particularly pleased with himself over this fact. "It's quite astonishing really."

Though of course relieved that Allison was fine and seemingly doing well, the shock of being told that she was now inside someone else's body wasn't exactly an easy thing to get over. It throwing up all kinds of questions and concerns. Some of which still had not yet been answered. Such as who exactly she was. The doctors having rather nimbly avoided answering this the first time. Leading you to ask once again, "Who was she?"

Looking at one another again nervously, as if waiting for someone else to answer, you waited a full ten seconds until Saunders finally spoke up. Taking a deep breath as he informed you that her full name was Cassandra Antonia Rousseau, or "Cassie for short" and that she was twenty-seven years old, French-Canadian, single (as far as they could tell), and was currently renting an apartment in the center of town. This information naturally blowing your mind.

Holy shit! She's... She's twenty seven?!? Allison being a full eleven years older than you now. This being a hell of a lot different than the couple of months it used to be.

"She, uh... she also..." the doctor continued. Looking a little flustered as to how exactly to proceed. "...How best to put this?"

"Put what?" you responded. A million different thoughts suddenly shooting through your mind. Was there something wrong with her? Was she a serial killer or some kind of government assassin... or maybe even a prostitute? Praying to God it wasn't anything like that. The doctor's reluctance to just come right out and say it putting you very much on edge.

"Well, it seems that Cassie was into the whole fitness scene. Competitively. Some might even say a little too much..."

This naturally leading you to wonder what the hell he was talking about. ...Fitness scene? Was she a gym instructor or something? That certainly didn't seem too bad.

"Oh for Goodness sake, Saunders!" Kerry suddenly snapped. "Just spit it out will you!" Turning towards you then and saying, "She was a bodybuilder, Tim." Not sugarcoating things in the slightest. "And her physique is quite dramatic to say the least. Quite dramatic."

Holy shit! you thought. "A... A bodybuilder? You're... You're kidding me?" Your girlfriend was not only a fully grown woman now but a female bodybuilder too? Mentally squealing, No. No. It can't be. Female body builders were all weird and gross. She couldn't be one of those. She couldn't!

"I'm afraid we're not," Kerry assured you. "Her new body really is quite something to behold. Amazonian some might even say." Sounding suitably impressed by this fact. Though perhaps not in the "that's cool" kind of way, but more from a medical view point. "I know it's obviously not ideal, but unfortunately we didn't have time to find a more suitable donor. You have to understand that the part of Allison's brain that we removed had a very short life span. Waiting for another brain dead patient to arrive at the hospital could have taken hours, if not days. Rather she be Ms. Rousseau than no longer with us, yes?"

As reluctant as you were to admit it and as freaky as it was to imagine Allison as one of those over-inflated, mannish looking women, you were extremely grateful to the doctors for keeping her alive. "I... I guess." Not knowing what you would have done if she'd actually died. The two of you having been together for almost four years now. Allison not only being your girlfriend but was also your first ever love. Having grown up together and so knowing one another inside out. Better even than you knew your best friend, Randall. The two of you having met when you were around twelve and had been dating ever since. It was just that now, after hearing all this, you had no idea what was going to happen going forward. It all being so much to take in.

This wasn't the end of the bad news either. Dr. Saunders looking rather uncomfortable again as he started, "That's not all we have to tell you I'm afraid. Due to the experimental nature of the procedure and the fact that it was... for want of a better word, not strictly 'legal', we feel that it is in the best interest of everyone involved that this remain a secret. That we all pretend like none of it even happened. That it was your girlfriend who died, not Ms. Rousseau."

"Wuh-what? You... You can't be serious!?" you yelped. Shocked by the very suggestion. "You actually wanna pretend like Allison died?"

He was serious however. Deadly. Explaining to you then that it would only be in public, and that both yours and Allison's family would still know the truth. "It's just that if word of any of this gets out then life could become very difficult for Allison indeed. For all of you. The media will be all over it. None of you will ever get a moments piece. Not to mention the actual legal ramifications of transplanting a brain into someone else's body... Who knows what will happen. She might go to prison... or worse."

"I know it might seem extreme," Kerry then added. Backing Saunders up. "But it really is the only option. And both of your families have already agreed and signed the necessary paperwork."

They what?! You couldn't believe this. That they'd all actually agreed to what basically amounted to robbing Allison of her life and forcing her into living someone else's, while she was still asleep! They couldn't. It was wrong. Allison wasn't Cassie Rousseau, she was Allison Lowry; The girl you loved. You couldn't let them do this to her. You wouldn't.

"No. No way. You can't do that!" you protested. Becoming quite angry. "You can't just pretend like she doesn't exist. It's... It's insane! You're insane! This whole fucking thing is insane!"

"Tim, please. I know this must be very upsetting for you but..."

"Change her back!" you demanded. Trying your best to sit up but finding it a struggle. Groaning as you raised your neck, "Put her brain back inside her own body where it belongs!"

"We can't," Saunders told you, shaking his head. Explaining why it wouldn't work. Though right now you were too worked up to even care. The thought of your girlfriend losing her identity like this being just too much to bare.

Screaming at him now, "YES YOU FUCKING WELL CAN!" Feeling a sudden stabbing pain in your chest as you did. Your head quickly becoming rather fuzzy as you found it increasing difficult to breathe. "So just... just... "

The next thing you knew, you had collapsed back onto your pillow, feeling the world suddenly come closing in around you. Everything growing rather dark as you heard Dr. Saunders' voice echoing from somewhere nearby. Calling out, "Tim? Tim, can you hear me? ...Tim?"

Then everything went black.
