You were getting very frustrated at this point and demanded answers.
"Perhaps I should just show you." The doctor finally said before he opened a door and guided you down a long hallway.
The room at the end seemed dark and the light that was inside flickered. If this was a horror movie, you'd be pretty spooked right now. When you arrived inside, you saw your dad lying unconscious on a bed. Next to him was your girlfriend, Allison. You began to freak out.
"It's Allison? Dead God, why!?" You started to cry.
"Don't panic. Allison is actually fine...or she will be. Or, well..."
You were a bit bothered by the way the doctor was fumbling. Then you noticed something off about both your dad and Allison. Though blankets covered their bodies, you couldn't help but notice how large the body was under the blanket beneath Allison's head. And, for that matter, how small and feminine the body was under your dad's. Then he noticed a fine stitching in the necks of both your dad and Allison. Suddenly, it was all coming together.
The doctor jumped in to explain, "As I said, we conducted a brain transplant. We couldn't quite get the brain out of the head, so we removed the whole thing. We know it was extreme, but it did save both of their lives!"
"They'll both be fine?" You ask, your anger settling down.
"We hope so, yes. Now, there's always a possibility of additional complications down the line, but they're both stable for now."
"Can't you switch them back? I can't imagine either of them are going to be happy about this."
"It's too early to say. We certainly can't do it with them in their present condition. They need a lot of time to recover. We'll keep monitoring them, of course. It's possible that one day they will be healthy enough to reverse the swap, but I can't make any promises. For now, we just need to wait for them to wake up..."
