When the dust cleared, the rock stood, same as it always did. Amy sighed, writing some notes in her journal. She flipped back to the beginning of said journal, 100 pages and 50 pounds ago. If a gain that big didn't affect her magic at all, then it looked like her Master's theory about magic being affected by the caster's body was wrong after all. It took her the rest of the morning to finish her conclusion. She then set the journal down and sat down herself.
Amy idly drummed her fingers on her belly as she ruminated on the past few months. She'd invested quite a lot of time and effort into this line of research, and not seeing it pan out was really disappointing. There was also the matter of her excess weight. While the acolytes down at the Temple of Gaia might have been fine with bigger bodies, wizardly society tended to look down on fatter magicians. Amy couldn't begin to guess why, but she supposed that she should probably at least try to get her thinner body back.
