Ashley takes her hands and puts them around her neck. Not quite as if she was choking herself, but more to provide support, with her thumbs over her throat and palms pointing upward.
"So this place has a few quirks..." she said. "Ahem"
Ashley cleared her throat, then seemed to push upward with her hands. No more than three seconds later there was a small 'pop' sound, and she lifted her head clear off her shoulders!
"Holy shit..." you whispered to yourself.
"And you're sure you didn't know about this?" Ashley's disembodied head asked.
"No..." you said, stunned and not really able to process what had just happened.
"Wow, so you like, really didn't know?" She asks in disbelief. "I thought everyone who moves here knows..."
"Does it... does it hurt?" You asked.
"Not even a little. Want to try?" Ashley replied.
"You mean I can do it too?" You ask incredulously.
"Sure! I mean the magic here takes a little while to take, but if you're not completely losing your mind I'd say there's a fair chance that you're good" she explains.
"I mean, sure - I'll give it a try..." you agreed.
You position your hands around your neck just like Ashley had, and gently pull upward.
Nothing happens.
"Was I meant to do anything special? Think anything?" You asked.
"Nope, it should have just worked..." Ashley replied. "Guess you still need some time then."
You were almost disappointed - you were curious how it felt to be headless.
