Ah screw it, this NBM stuff is too cool to pass...

You bite your lip for a moment as you weigh your options. You did just get a desk job here as a code monkey and it pays well... but your boss is an ass and you spend all day in a cramped cubicle, which is worse for you because you are pretty tall, at the end of each day your legs and fingers usually have painful cramp or two. To actually be up on stage and being able to move more than once every couple of hours would be awesome.

Besides, who says you have to quit that job if this doesn’t pan out? It probably won’t hurt to give being Isabel’s assistant for a night or two a shot.

“Oh... fine I’ll give it a go.” You say as you hold out your hand.

Isabela claps her’s together as she sports a huge grin. “Oh wonderful! It’s a lot of fun, you’ll see!”

She then composes herself and quickly becomes all business. “Now then, tonight’s show or later? If you’re gonna be my assistant tonight we have to get going.”

“Wait, a later show? I thought the deal was for tonight’s show?”

“Well, if you were just gonna watch that’d be one thing, but if you’re gonna be my assistant I wanna know your fresh and ready for it, if you need your rest I’m fine with you being my assistant for a different show, but if you’re doing to night, I’ll have to introduce you to my manager and figure out a costume for you... or if you’ll even be wearing one, before you step on stage or plant yourself in the audience.”

“Huh, a plant in the audience... oldest trick in the book?”

“Yeah, honestly at this point it’s kind of expected. And the magic is mostly real anyways.”

“Only mostly?”

She smirks. “I do use a fair amount of mundane tricks in my act, mostly anyone can use magic in these parts with enough time and effort... but making people wonder if it’s the real deal or a clever illusion? That’s the real trick!” She says with a huge smile.
