With a slight grin, she hands you her hand and says "now this will blow your mind". She then produces a handkerchief in her other hand and cover your hand (with her detached hand in it) and her stump with it. After a few seconds, she whisks away the cloth and reveals that your hands have been switched.
"Whoa there," you say "this is pretty amazing, but how about putting our hands back?"
"Take it easy" she responds "this is just temporary. My show is tomorrow at 6, there's are directions and a ticket in your back pocket. The moment you walk through the door, our hands will swap back. I thought you could do with a little reminder that all this is real. I wouldn't want you waking up thinking this was just a dream. Toodaloo".
And with that she was gone. You rub your eyes and you try to process everything that just happened, and the silky texture of your new hand reminds you that, yup, this just happened. Your plans for tomorrow night just got made.
*fast forward to tomorrow*
The moment you shut your car door, 'your' new hand starts to tingle, tickling worse and worse until you cross into the local theater, at which point it abruptly stops. You take it out of your pocket (you'd been hiding it to avoid awkward questions), and lo and behold, it was your old hand attached to your wrist. You'd never been this intrigued by your own fingers, palm and wrist before.
"Hey you"
You turn around and see your friend Jenny, who you'd invited so as not to be alone at the show, and to possibly serve as a credible witness as to why you might have gone through life with mismatched hands. The two of you have always got on well, and you suspect that you might have potential, but aren't sure exactly how to move in that direction. Regardless, it isn't awkward at all as you move down to take front row seats, chattering excitedly about the wonders that you're about to see.
As the curtain goes up, you see Isabella in a feminized, sexy tux, and she gives you a quick wink. The show starts small, but quickly builds up as card tricks build up to linking rings, which give way to improbable productions as the audience becomes more and more enthralled with the impossibilities unfolding before their eyes. And then then Isabella asks for a/some volunteer(s).
