2 or younger?

"Damn it! What is wrong with this thing?" Daniel said looking down at the controller.

"Character age selected" said a disembodied voice from the game.

"What? I didn't select anything." Daniel said looking up at the monitor.

As the world began to fade to black around him, Daniel heard his sister laughing. The last thing he saw before everything went completely black was the age he had "selected".

In the new reality of the game, Daniel was going to be.
