The two young women stood in fron of the meteor, transfixed by the unnatural glow it was emitting.
It filled Heather with a strange sense of confidence. A rather unusual feeling for the chubby and most importantly shy girl. Emboldened by that, she took a step forward towards the glowing rock. What happened next had a large amount of reasons. Heather hadn't lied about her feet killing her - her chubby statue combined with the long walk had put a huge strain on her legs and feet, while her eyes were still transfixed on the meteor, she also didn't pay much attention to the uneven ground. One step was miscalculated and she lost her balance into a forward fall. Instinctively, she tried to correct with another step but she failed to pull her foot as far ahead as she needed to to break her forward momentum. Two steps became three, with even less success than before and rather than trying to salvage her balance once more, Heather realized that her falling over was imminent and prepared by bringing up her hands in front of her to soften her landing.
But rather than falling straight to the ground, she instinctively tried to steady herself on the glowing meteor.
Lindsay had no time to react when her friends suddenly stepped forward erratically only to find herself all but crashing into the meteor. She had barely begun to process the fact that Heather was stumbling when the other girls hands made contact with the glowing rock.
The moment Heathers hand touched the meteor, the glow seemed to flow from the rock into the young woman. Heather gasped shortly, she felt a weird tingling where the glow flowed into her, that seemed to spread up her arm and then continue into the rest of her body. The light emitted by the meteor dimmed and only three or four seconds later it was already over. The two girls stood in the darkness again.
"What just happened?" asked Lindsay.
At that moment, Heather was at a loss for words, she felt strange.
