"Come on!" said a nerdy-looking man at the counter of the mart. "this is a brand-new berry I just discovered! It's gotta be worth more than that"
The nerdy-looking man was holding a strange-looking berry that was orange-red and covered in green patches--rather unusual looking. It was also quite large for a berry. While most berries were small and easy to carry for a Pokemon, the new strange berry was the size of a bowling ball. It looked as if no pokemon can hold it easily unless they were in their evolved form. Also the strange berry had an odd smell.
The clerk of the mart, a woman in her thirties shook her head. "All berries are sold at a reasonable price no matter if the berry is newly discovered"
"But...this berry is worth more than thirty dollars!" said the nerdy man. "just look at it! It's most unusual in both size and coloring! I'll give you 70 dollars for it!"
"30 is the standard price" said the clerk.
"But this isn't a standard berry" said the man.
"30 is my only offer" said the clerk. "take it or leave it"
The man sighed. "Oh all right. 30 it is, then"
The nerdy man walked out of the mart some minutes later. The man whistled while he walked some distance away from the mart which was located near the very heart of Slateport City. He ducked into an alley and made his way towards the docks through a route that only he knew. Finally he came upon a large warehouse and entered it.
The warehouse seemed darker than it had been when he had left it nearly a hour ago.
"I've managed to sell it" said the man.
From the shadows, a loud belch was heard. "Excellent. Soon I won't be the only one with this condition" said a big booming male voice.
"If you wanted someone else with your condition" said the nerdy man. "why couldn't I eat it then?"
"I want a female companion" said the big voice. "I trust you know the reason"
"..and what if she doesn't want to be with you?" asked the nerdy man. "and anyway, the chances of a woman buying that berry...."
"I know" said the big male voice. "there's a chance that another male will get it and eat it. It's a risk I'm willing to take"
The nerdy man nodded slightly and wrinkled his nose as he caught the smell in the warehouse. "Did you just....?"
"Right before you came back" said the big voice. "would you mind dumping it in the sewer?"
"You know it's a good thing we're such good friends" said the nerdy man.
***************A Few Days Later....***************
"That's a weird-looking berry you got there, Brock" said Ash.
Ash, Brock, May and Max were in the city of Slateport for the opening of the new chocolate factory there. May had wanted to see the brand-new factory and get some chocolate candies there. While they were waiting for the factory to open, Brock had gone shopping for pokemon food. When he had came back to the pokemon center, Ash noticed that Brock was carrying an unusual-looking berry.
"It sure is" said Brock. "it's a newly discovered berry from what the clerk told me"
"A newly discovered berry?" asked Max.
"What's the big deal about that?" scoffed May.
"It's not everyday that a new berry is discovered" said Max.
"Forget about the berry" said May. "I'm in the mood for people food. When does that factory open?"
"Two hours" said Max.
"Two hours?!" whined May. "but I'm starving now! Alright, let's go eat at a restaurant"
"We don't have enough money" said Brock. "I just spent the last of the money on pokemon food"
"Pika!" chimed in Pikachu who was on the shoulder of Ash.
May eyed the berry in Brock's hand. "I'm so hungry I could eat that"
"Berries are meant for pokemon" said Max.
"I don't care" said May, snatching the berry away from Brock. Before anyone could stop her, May took a large bite out of the berry.
"Hmm...delicious" said May.
