The interrogating officer noted down this revelation with excitement. The idea of them being former lieutenants, or even muscle who'd failed in their role. It was an opening that could be used. A natural ally with the inside information, who were probably invested in hurting their former employer.
"There's a problem, with that prospect." Bruno offered, see what the officer had written.
"They're not mind wiped?" the officer asked. A look of disappointment showing briefly on his face.
"Well, not quite." Bruno confirmed, "There'd be no punishment if they weren't aware of the reason for their failing, or were unaware of being punished." Breath hissing awkwardly between his teeth, as he revealed his knowledge.
"With some of the girls, their real personality only surfaces after some degrading act. Slowly fading as the shame lessens."
He looked pained, as the officer asked which kind of act. "Any of them, or a particular favourite of theirs when they were male." Bruno offered. "It was a chastening threat, even if you were being rewarded. If you betrayed them, you might be setting your own future punishment." He confessed.
"Others..." Bruno confessed, "Got to keep their memories, but with a lower IQ in place enforcing a bimbo personality on them. This was for those who were treacherous, and untrustworthy, rather than had just failed. Their... excess ambition, being extinguished, and a permanent place at the bottom of the ladder ensured."
Officer Collins noted it all down. After all, the brothels were available to the public, so an opening might be possible for some undercover operative to invite them to a new life, and offer some revenge of those who'd degraded and humiliated them so utterly.
