This choice: Traveling through the forest, unaware of the ambush that awaits you. • Go Back...Chapter #5Traveling through the forest, unaware of the am... by: lord thanatos You're traveling along a narrow forest trail, unaware and uncaring as to wear it leads, so long as there's adventure along the way. Of course, a bit of profit wouldn't go amiss either, as you've little to your name at present beyond your sword and the clothes on your back. If only you weren't such a lousy gambler.... Still, the sun is shinning, and the air is fresh, so different from noise, stench and overcrowding of the city, and you can't help but relax a bit.
You're relaxation is premature however, and nearly costs you your life, as only your keen senses and quick reflexes allow you to dodge the massive ax being swung at you as the first orc steps out from behind the tree in front of you and charges. Quickly, you draw your sword and prepare for battle, as two more of the creatures step out and move towards you. A quick assessment of your opponents leaves you unimpressed. You've fought orcs before, and you know how tough they can be, but though massively built by human standards, each of them standing well over six feet tall, by orcish standards, the group before you are little more than children, a pair of males and a solitary female, young warriors out on their first raid in an attempt to prove themselves.
Deciding to use the orcs inexperience and innate stupidity against them, you allow the two males to flank you. Adopting a defensive stance, you wait for the males to make the first move. the young orcs oblige you almost immediately, charging forward recklessly. Raising their weapons, the two orcs strike, one going high, bringing his ax down in an overhead smash, while the other swings his sword low, attempting to slice you in half at the waist. Such an attack might well have worked against a less experienced warrior, but not you, as dive to the left and roll away at the last moment, causing the young orcs attacks to strike each other instead, splitting open the head of the sword wielder like a melon, killing him instantly. The ax wielding orc fairs a bit better though he's still nearly cut clean in half by the attack of his companion. It's not enough to kill a creature as tough as an orc, at least not right away, but it's certainly enough to put him out of the fight and allow you to deal with him at your leisure.
Getting to your feet, you move in for the kill, when you hear a twig snap behind you. You'd forgotten about the female! Acting on instinct, you duck, the she orcs blade whistling through the air where your head had been just half a second before, and stab your sword behind you. You strike true, causing the she orc to shriek in pain. Knowing such a feeble attack isn't enough to finish her, you quickly withdraw your blade and roll forward, springing to your feet and turning, just in time to block an overhead slash by your opponent. Not having had time to set yourself properly, the she orc's massive strength is enough to drive you to your knees, your arms nearly buckling beneath the force of her blow. Why do orcs have to be so damn strong! Fortunately, you're stronger, and with a mighty heave, you thrust your body upwards, driving the female back a few steps, providing yourself with some much needed breathing room. Quickly, before the female can regain her balance, you launch your own attack, quickly slamming blow after blow into the she orcs defenses. Though nearly as strong as you are, and most likely possessing greater endurance, the females wounds and the weight of her over sized sword make her slow, and it doesn't take long for you to spot an opening, which you exploit ruthlessly, your sharp blade severing the orc girls sword arm just below the elbow, causing her to scream in agony, clutching at her injury.
You sneer before asking in orcish "What's wrong orc girl, feeling a bit short handed?"
"Damn human! I'll kill you!" the orc girl screams, drawing a knife and charging towards you.
Though you could easily kill her now, you're having fun, and decide to prolong the battle a bit longer. Transferring your sword to a one handed grip, you allow the orc girl to close within arms reach, then your empty hand lashes out, quick as lightning, seizing the orc girls wrist in an unbreakable grip, before raising your sword high above you, and bringing it down hard, severing the orc girls remaining arm at the shoulder, before doing the same with the stump of her sword arm, followed by her legs, removing them both at the hips, leaving her a bleeding, screaming torso lying there on the ground. As she writhes in pain, you study her. Even though she's an orc, the females surprisingly attractive, or at least would be, if she wasn't covering in blood and writhing around in agony. In fact, aside from the green skin, and small fangs, she appears almost human, though much more heavily muscled than most human women. She's probably some sort of half breed, an orc human hybrid most likely, though an orc elf combination is also possible. As you study the orc girl, her wails of agony begin to get to you. Though it seems almost a shame to kill her, it doesn't seem right to make her continue to suffer either. You have to do something. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
