He'd leaned to far. That was Scott's first reaction as he felt himself sliding forward. He tried to pull himself up but it was too late. His second reaction was to scream as he free fell into the interior of the sneaker. The impact was jarring enough that it knocked the wind out of him and he saw stars flash over his vision. He lay there on his back for some time before he was able to breath properly again.
Scott checked himself over. Nothing felt broken, but damn did it ever hurt. Painfully he rolled over on his stomach and rose to a crouched position. He looked about. The interior of the sneaker was cavernous. You wouldn't think that an 8 year old kid's sneaker could be called that, but that was the best way to describe it. That made him fearful to think of the size of the kid who wore it. Getting to his knees, he looked about. There was no way out. No loose threads, no hand or foot holds. He was trapped. All because he was curious about a damn tag.
Just when he though "How much worst can it get?" he felt a tremor.
Then another.
And another
And another
Each one growing stronger than the last. He'd seen enough dinosaur movies to know what that was, and that was no T-Rex approaching. He could hear the loud thud of the approaching giant. It suddenly got bright as the closet door was opened. Then a shadow filled the opening of the sneaker. Despite the pain in his body Scott got to his feet. Filled with dread he suspected what might be next.
