More Realities

Okay, here's one set of realities, and one reality to start us off:

Earth 2:
Our Earth, identical to Earth Prime save for the fact that Open Day never occured. Is gradually diverging from Earth Prime as time goes on.

Cordyceps:
We've all heard of the Cordyceps Fungi, right? You know, the one that controls ants and takes over their netvous systems in order to propagate itself? In this reality, the Cordyceps Fungi has spread across the world, controlling every last living creature.
And in the process, it has become sapient.
Each individual controlled by the fungi is still controlled by it, as the fungi is unable to relinquish control, but the thin stalks growing out of the heads of every animal on earth now act as out brains do, letting each individual fungus think and feel.
And they feel, indeed. Chief among these feelings is regret for the billions of lives they unknowingly extinguished while still just a simple fungus. But one day, when a portal opens and a human, of all things, falls through, perhaps the Cordyceps has found a chance at redemption?
