Chapter #3

Danielle, the Real Wizard

    by: Vintovka Author IconMail Icon
You knock on Danielle's door, and almost instantly she yanks it open as if she had been waiting beside it ever since she sent that text. You're greeted by having your face shoved into the small breasts of her beanpole body as she wraps her spindly arms around you, pulling you in for a tight hug. Instinctively you return it, your hands running over her velvet clothing. Somehow you guess this isn't a casual get together.

She releases you, allowing you to look up at her face, incredibly pale from years of only going outside when it was absolutely necessary. Her light blue eyes are positively beaming, and her thin mouth is spread in a larger smile than you've ever seen on her. You take a step back to look her over and see that she's wearing a black robe with flowing sleeves that's hemmed just below her knees and had a very generous neckline. She's let her hair down, allowing it to wave in the breeze. To complete the look she's wearing black high-heeled shoes, bumping her up to nearly a foot and a half taller than you.

She stands aside, allowing you to enter her dimly lit room. The walls are lined with her action figure collection, which includes characters from various animes, cartoons comics and tabletop gaming miniatures, as well as her extensive collection of books, half of which are related to gaming. There's a table set up by her bed with polyhedral dice scattered on its surface on top of a plastic mat with a grid drawn on it. A single red leather grimoire lies open on the table amidst the dice, though you can't see what it's open to, and there are two chairs set up.

"I'm so glad you came over so quickly!" she says in her squeaky voice. "As soon as it happened I just had to tell you, I know you'll be super excited." She sits down and gestures for you to do the same. When you've taken your seat she grabs you by the wrist and pulls it toward her. "Brace yourself. You braced?" You nod. "Okay, here goes: I can do magic, just like my character."

You scoff. "Dani, we've been over this. Magic isn't real, no one can do it, it's just a fun little element in our games. I mean it would be really cool if it were real, you know I love wizards almost as much as you do, but if you tell anyone else about this they're going to worry about your mental health." Danielle doesn't look upset or hurt like you expected, in fact the smile doesn't even leave her face. All she does in response is lift up her other hand towards the door and mutter one word you can't understand, sending a spray of colors out from her fingertips. "That's a real impressive trick, but stage magicians do stuff like that all the time, it's not real magic."

Danielle smirks and takes your free wrist with her other hand. "I guess you want me to cast something on you then?" she asks. "You know, to prove it? C'mon, stand up." You try to remain seated, but she insistently pulls you up to your feet. She lets go of your wrists and places her hands on your shoulders, holding you in place while she looks down at you. Compliantly you tilt your head back so that you can look her in the eyes, and she says, "Before I do it, I need you to say that you voluntarily fail your next saving throw."

You shrug, raising her hands slightly, and decide to humor her. "Okay, fine. In order for you to demonstrate your magic, I will voluntarily fail my next saving throw. Just don't cast Fireball or something, I don't want to have to call Lana over here so that she can heal me."

Danielle grins down at you, not minding that you're clearly making fun of her. "Stay close and don't move once this is over," she says as she moves her hands over your head. "If I'm as powerful as my character it could be really hard to find you after this." You watch her pinch her thumb and forefinger together then point at you as she says an arcane word which sounds strangely familiar. She says it a lot while you play, at least once per session, and you quickly place when she would say it: every time she casts Reduce Person!

The shrinking is incredibly fast. One moment you're looking at her low neckline, and the next you're eye to belt. Before you can even blink you're below the hem of her robe and still going. How powerful of a wizard Danielle is will decide how tall you end up from just this one spell, so how powerful is she?

You have the following choices:

1. Novice - 1 foot

2. Experienced - 1 inch

3. Archmage - 0.1 inch
