This choice: Parallel memories of being Jakki flood in... • Go Back...Chapter #7New Life as Jakki by: Hawkcam As you finally accepted the fact that the magic of the app was real, you became lightheaded, with new memories flooding into your mind. You now remember growing up as the oldest sibling, Jakki. You remember getting your first period as a young, girl just entering puberty. You remember teaching Sarah, now younger than you by a year, about periods along with your mother. You remember getting your first crush on a boy. Your first date with a boy. First kiss with a boy. Losing your virginity as a woman. Going to homecoming and prom with boys. Falling in love. Giving Sarah advice about boys. So many memories flooded your mind at once. Your new memories told you that you were now 19 years old. Having been a 17 year old boy, with Sarah being your older sister at 18, you, being the new older sister became 19. Your memories even told you that you actually weren’t even living with your family anymore. That you moved in with your boyfriend of 3 years and we’re just visiting your family for the day. You were even a college student now.
All these new memories overwhelmed you. Now having 19 years of memories growing up as a girl, which was more than your 17 years as a boy, you felt conflicted about your identity. A part of you regretted this wish, wanting to be male. The other, now fighting for dominance, was happy as a girl. That part of you wasn’t even aware of the wish, almost as if your personality was split in two, despite still being one personality. Like something that was being cut in half but stopped before it was cut all the way through. A metaphor that reminded you of Nearly Headless Nick, from Harry Potter. As a boy, you were a fan of the Harry Potter movies. As a girl, you were an even bigger fan, having read all the books. Jakki seemed more into fantasy than your old self was. Her interests, while mostly similar to your own, were not identical to yours. She wasn’t as interested in sports as you were, despite still being interested in them enough that she went to every one of her boyfriend’s football games and even played a little soccer herself when she was younger, and has been a cheerleader since high school, now a college cheerleader. She wasn’t as interested in video games either, although she did play a few every now and then. And she had additional interests that you didn’t have before, like fashion and shopping. Typical girly interests.
These conflicting personalities fought for dominance over your mind. After several minutes of standing there, trying to compose yourself while your mind fought with itself, it finally ended, at least for now.
