It's been 8 months since The Gordanian Invasion and things have been going well for the newly dubbed 'Teen Titans'. After the battle Starfire made a public apology to the city for her rather destructive arrival, and vowed to make up for it by using her power in defense of the city and for the public good. The people were weary of her at first, but she quickly won their favor with her boundless kindness and sunny personality. Plus the fact that she was figuratively and literally smoking hot really helped.
With all the alien tech left behind Cyborg quickly and eagerly went to work turning the huge landing probe into The Titans new base of operations and home, appropriately now called 'Titans Tower'. And used all the leftover tech to upgrade his own hardware. The bad guys were in for a nasty surprise when bionic hero busted out the big guns.
Once the tower was complete and all The Titans got their own rooms Raven made it very clear to everyone that nobody EVER goes into her room without permission. A rule that Beast Boy frequently broke thanks to his overwhelming curiosity and desire to make sure she wasn't always locked in her room. Even though it annoyed her greatly for him to invade her privacy, she could always tell that he just didn't want her to feel like she was alone, which she was secretly very thankful for.
Speaking of the changeling it came as a real surprise to him that he was made the official leader of the team. He would have figured Cyborg would be the better choice since he was the oldest, he built the tower and all the weapons, and he proved himself a competent leader in some of the team's earliest outings fighting crime. But everyone agreed that not only was Beast Boy the one who brought everyone together, he was also the most well rounded and charismatic of the team. And when the chips were down he was the most competent hero. So he accepted his position with pride and lead the team well. But whenever there was down time he was always able to pull a prank or two to keep things from getting too serious and boring.
We now find our heroes at a pier carnival with Cyborg chowing down on corndogs and big pretzels, a very unamused looking Raven holding a giant stuffed chicken that Beast Boy won for her in a rig toss, (though privately she was very touched by the gift and would cherish it always) and Beast Boy and Starfire sitting together on the ferries wheel watching the fireworks.
Starfire let out a soft gasp in wonder at the display "Beautiful." she said with shimmering eyes. "Tell me again what they are called." she requested her friend next to her.
"Fireworks." Beast Boy answered happily as he enjoyed the show with her.
"On my home planet, such explosions would mean The Gordanians were attacking. You are certain Earth is not under attack?" she asked with worry.
Beast Boy just smiled at her adorable naivete "Positive. And even if it was, we would just kick their scaly butts again." he said confidently. Seeing her worries eased and her lovely smile return was more amazing then the firework show "Cotton Candy?" he offered his stick of the pink fluffy treat.
Starfire looked unsure "The last time I ate a ball of cotton it was white. And it did not taste very-"
"Yeah, that kind of cotton is for making clothes and stuff, this cotton is for eating. Watch." he said as he took a piece of pink fluff into his mouth and happily chewed on it.
He seemed to enjoy it so Starfire followed his lead, her eyes widened in surprise at the pleasing flavor "Mmm. Eep! It vanished!" she said with pleasant surprise.
"*Chuckle* Yeah, it does that."
"When I first came to this planet, I wasn't sure I would ever fit in. Earth was full of so many strange things, but now I see that-" her speech was interrupted by the sky being lit ablaze with explosions of every color imaginable as the firework show began it's finale.
"Wahoo hoo hoo! Amazing!" Beast Boy cheered at the display.
While Starfire also enjoyed the show her true focus was on the green hero next to her that she had been developing strange, strong, but wonderful feelings for since the day she met him. Not only was he a brave hero, he was kind to everyone that deserved it and fierce to his enemies. He was patient with her as she was still learning about Earth and always took the time to explain things for her in a way that not only made sense, but also made it feel like he wasn't talking down to her or make her feel stupid. He was funny and always did his best to make all his friends happy.
Her eyes shimmered with fondness as she gaze at him "Earth is full of amazing things too," she finished with a soft smile.
"Especially now that you're living here Kori." Beast Boy said with a warm smile of his own.
Hearing him address her by a shortened version of her real name made Starfire's eyes widened, her cheeks hot with a blush and her heart felt like it was going to leap out of her chest at his kind words. She bashfully played with her hair "Do you..truly mean that?" she asked full of hope.
"Of course I do." Beast Boy said gently "Kori, you are one of the most amazing people I've ever met. And you don't ever have to worry about not fitting in. You maybe a little naive when comes to Earth customs, but you're learning fast. Cyborg's half metal, but that doesn't stop him from being one of the coolest guys to ever live. Raven can be very creepy and anti-social, but I know beneath all that doom and gloom is a heart of pure gold. Plus I really love her sarcasm. Here with us, a bunch of misfits, is where you belong."
Starfire forgot how to breath for a few seconds and she felt compelled to lean in and claim his lips again. On Tamaran lip contact simply meant the transfer of knowledge, but her on Earth it means..more. And she wanted more.
But before she could get more a strange squid like machine snatched her from her seat and carried her away towards space. "Starfire!" Beast Boy cried out in alarm before turning into a falcon to chase after her.
Starfire struggled to get free, but the machines tentacles held tight "Wherever you are taking me, I do not wish to go!" she shouted as she blasted her captor with a starbolt which managed to get her free. Just then Beast Boy shifted into a monkey and landed on the machines head. He found some circuitry and wires that look important, so he ripped them apart. This seemed to do the trick as the machine started to wobble and spark, signaling that it was about to blow.
So he jumped off and turned human as Starfire caught him in her arms and they watched it exploded "What was that?" Starfire thought out loud.
"I don't know. But whatever it was, it can't hurt you now." Beast Boy said comfortingly.
"But, why did it wish to hurt me at all?" she said greatly confused.
"Good question."
