Suzy apologised, and showed you, your loaner body.

Suzy spoke slowly, either for clarity, or because she thought you were stupid, "This is sort of obvious. But, you didn't read the small print, did you?"

Your mouth is too dry to trust, so you give a brief shake of your head.

"Well, we extract your consciousness, and put it in a substituted body."

She paused, "Uh huh... and..." you manage to croak.

"That just leave a few basic brain functions. The autonomics, allowing us to exercise your body back to a good level of fitness."

"Uh . huh ..." you swallow, "And me.... I mean my .. -er- ... consciousness. Am I conscious? Where's my mind?"

Suzy's eyes shifted briefly to the curtain. As her gaze returned to your face, she spotted that you had seen where she looked. She let out a slow sigh, and went over to the curtain.

"You'll be in here." she said as she swept the curtain back.
