How about a mad scientist project that involves female test subjects that contain supernatural powers that are contagious called awakeners. The awakeners seek out a compatible "mate" to share her powers with. One "mate" can have multiple awakeners so he or she can obtain multiple powers and display a wide range of unique powers and benefits. Awakeners develop a strong attachment to their mate and strongly care for their mate and are willing to do anything for him. Awakeners are all females who look in their late teens whose genetics were designed from the most beautiful female traits. There hair and eye colors range from normal (blonde, red, etc.) to unnatural colors such as blue hair, purple eyes, eyes that are different colors, etc. Prior to finding a mate a awakener is very skinny, like bones wrapped in skin, but once she finds a mate she grows luscious curves and as you develop yours powers she grows fatter. A mate could also increase his power by fattening his awakener which can be done through a growing relationship or old fashioned feeding. The fatter an awakener is the stronger her and your power becomes. So a mate with a harem of obese awakeners is very powerful.
There are an unknown number of awakeners but there are at least 200 in the city. In an attempt to subdue the project, the scientist created sleepers to try and destroy awakeners and their mates. Sleepers are faceless humanoid bodies that are pale purple with super strength. The mates decide to seek out other mates and can either befriend each other or fight each other. If a mate kills another mate the victor claims the vanquished's awakeners. The scientists plans on killing the mates and capturing the awakeners for experimentation.
