"Let's get out of here and have some fun!" he said with big smile.

"What? Why?" Korra asked confused.

"Because the night is still young, I've got some money I've been saving up and most importantly we both could use some fun." he reasoned.

"But..what would we even do?"

"Whatever we want! Come on Korra let's paint this town red!" He didn't give her much time to ask any further questions as he dragged her out of the gym to hit the streets. At first Korra was very unsure about all this but she quickly warmed up to the idea when Bolin took her to his favorite eatery which was famous for it's authentic Water Tribe food.

"So..what do you think?" Bolin asked Korra who was happily chowing down on a bowl of noodles.

"It's delicious! I didn't think I could miss Water Tribe grub so soon." she said with a hint of nostalgia.

"And this is but a taste of what this city has to offer. No pun intended." he said before continuing to enjoy his own meal.

"Why did you ask me out all of the sudden anyway? Or to be more accurate kidnap me." she said jokingly.

"Well..I just couldn't stand seeing you sad. If I could help you figure out how to Airbend I would, but since I can't I went with the best thing I could think of." he answered sincerely.

A slight blush appeared on her face and warmth filled her heart at hearing this. She smiled sweetly "Thank you Bolin."

He had a smile and blush of his own as he rubbed the back of neck awkwardly "So..how are you liking Republic City so far?" he asked.

"Well..to be honest my first impression was pretty mixed. I ended up getting arrested." she frowned thinking about her rather unpleasant encounter with Lin Beifong.

Bolin's eye's widened in disbelief "Really?! For what?"

"I stopped a group of thugs from tearing up a helpless shopkeepers store. But did Beifong listen me when I explained it to her? No! She just treated me like a criminal for no reason!" Just thinking about that woman made Korra's blood boil a little.

From what Bolin knew about Chief Beifong she was tough as nails and scary, but fair and professional. She must of had a good reason right? "Well how did you stop these thugs?" he asked.

Korra had a smirk on her face as she remember teaching those thugs a lesson "Oh it was great! Their leader tried to throw a water spear at me, but I threw it back at him freezing his face and kicked him into their car! Before this other guy could even try to Earthbend I launched him into the air with an earth column and he fell into a fruit stand! The last guy tried to fry me but I powered through the fire and tossed him through a shops..window."

Her voice lost some of it's vigor as she started to realize just how much damage she really caused in her scuffle with The Tripe Threats. "And before they could get away I sent their car crashing into another..shop." Remembering that last bit really drove it home. She was lucky nobody else was in that shop.

"Oof." Bolin said with a grimace.

"Plus I may have tried to run from the police and injured a couple of them before I was caught." she said embarrassed as she remembered kicking one guy in the face and causing another to ram into a wall of ice.

"Oooof."

"Yeah. Thinking about it now I guess she had plenty of reasons to treat me like a criminal." she said sheepishly.

"I'll say! Nobody is above the law with Chief Beifong. I'm honestly amazed your not in jail. Um, no offense."

"None taken. But yeah she was ready to lock me up and throw away the key, luckily Tenzin was there to bail me out. *Sigh* Some Avatar I am huh? I try to help people and all I end up doing is causing trouble." she said self deprecatingly.

"Hey, none of that!" he said sternly before saying warmly "You stood up to a group of bullies single handedly to protect innocents. I say that not only makes you a great Avatar but great person over all."

Her blush returned and she shyly played with one of her side pony tails "You really think so?"

"Of course! Sure you messed up a little but you'll get better. And hey if you ever need any help in saving people, don't hesitate to give me a call! I'll drop whatever I'm doing and come running!" he said sincerely.

She knew he meant every word, but felt like she needed to test him a little. "Really?" she asked raising an amused eyebrow "Being The Avatar means I'll most likely face against all sorts of danger. Are you sure you're up for it?"

Bolin crossed his arms with a confident grin "You better believe it."

"Okay, but if we end up facing the end of the world together don't say I didn't warn you." They shared a good laugh at that even though they both knew the possibility was very real.

"And to tell you the truth, I'm a bit of a criminal myself." he confessed.

Now Korra's eye's widened in disbelief "No way!"

"Way." Bolin's face turned solemn as he thought back to some of his darker years "It happen a few years after our parents were killed. We lived on the streets for the most part, it was rough, but we managed, barely. Then one day, one of the Triple Threats came walking down the ally we were sleeping in for the night, I guess he saw some easy cheap labor in us and we were desperate at the time, so when he offered us some work we accepted. Mako helped with book keeping and money management, he was always good with numbers. And I was strong for my age so I helped with cargo. They worked us hard and we saw some..unpleasant things while working for them. But we had a roof over our heads and decent meals for the first time in what felt like forever, so we just kept at it. Doing what we had to do to survive."

Korra could feel her heart breaking the more she heard, she never could have imagined how someone could've gone though all that and still be so sweet and full of life. "Bolin." she said softly.

"It's alright, this story has a happy ending! Or at least it will soon." He said with a big smile returning to his face. "When we saw that Pro-Bending could give us the opportunity to go straight and make some serious money, we saved every little penny we could and when we were finally old enough to compete, we left The Triple Threats and never looked back! And now The Fire Ferret's are well on their way to becoming the first rookie team in Pro-Bending history to become Champions!" he exclaimed triumphantly while flexing his muscles like a body builder for maximum cool factor, only to accidentally spill his drink all over the table. "Oh geez, I'm sorry!"

Korra chuckled heartily at his silliness "It's fine Bolin, don't worry about it." she said happily as she helped him clean up.

After recovering from that embarrassment Bolin then said "So anyway, what do you say we put all that heavy stuff behind us and focus on the here and now! Because we still got a whole night of debauchery ahead of us, so lets finish our meal and get back to it!"

"Yeah!" she wholeheartedly agreed "This city's not going to know what hit it!"

With a city as big as Republic city there was all kinds of things to do, especially at night if you know where to look. So the only question was what would the young benders do next?
