When your father died when you were 14, your mother Helen became distressed. Not wanting to see her son die as well, she made every effort in making sure you were healthy. You weren't sure if her efforts made any difference since the plague still got to you, but you managed to survive.
It left you weak but your mother relieved. Since then, she never really left your side. She was constantly worrying about you and always over-protective. The effects of the plague and seeing other children die seemed to impact your mother psychologically.
It had been three years since the Guardianship Program came into effect. Since you were not of legal age, you were still in custody of your mother and therefore, nobody could claim you. Originally, you thought the program was a great idea, but as months past, it started to scare you. No longer was it a duty to protect the remaining males, instead, it became a model of sadistic, self-indulgence and domination. Males were nothing but property as the Guardianship Program became more than it was supposed to be.
Thankfully, Helen didn't think that way. She found it disgusting and it was clear she despised those who took advantages of males as slaves. Despite her beliefs, you couldn't help but worry as each month went by getting closer to your birthday. Everywhere you wanted to go, Helen always came with you. If she felt you were going to be harmed or taken, she would protect you...sometimes needlessly. You couldn't escape even if you wanted to since the effects of the plague never left you. You could never be as strong or as firm as you were before females became the dominant race.
This resulted you having to be dependent on your mother a lot. You could travel to places on your own, but you were prone to becoming weak and tired quickly. It wasn't so bad though. You had a girlfriend named Janice who was also supportive of male rights and against of the current Guardianship Program. She was the only other female that your mother trusted as well. This meant that you had two people supporting you which was comforting.
Everything started to change though when you hit 18. You were no longer legally bound to your mother, but it was apparent that Helen didn't want to risk losing you at all. You were hurt and shocked when you found that your life was in the hands of your mother indefinitely as she signed on to be your official Guardian.
You loved your mother. She was the most loving and beautiful woman you knew. It wasn't a sugar coating either, Helen seemed to age more gracefully than other woman in their early forties. She looked like she was in her 30s!
...but as much as you loved her, you grew worried as your mother started to have plans given the new authority over you. She promised to always treat you right; however, you could only wonder what her treatment entailed? After all, you were the only important person within her life.
