Karl Fink had managed to infiltrate the James/Jenning's household in order to spy on what they were up to manly Avery and Chloe who was usually nice to him on, this time he had used a special device he had dubbed the shrink ray to shrink down to a small size and easily sneak into their home. This also helped him escape his on home since he was grounded for doing exactly what he was doing now, spying. He entered the home through the back door which was left wide open as usual, he saw Ellen who was just cleaning up after making the lunch her daughter Avery and her two step children Tyler and Chloe who were all eating at the table.
Once Ellen had finished cleaning she heard her husband Bennett James call out to see if her and Tyler was ready to go, most likely to the high school to discuss Tyler's poor GPA in comparison to Avery's. Chloe stayed at the table reaching onto a nearby chair and grabbing a bag of skittles to munch on now that her parents were gone, after all she had always had a sweet tooth and candy hidden throughout the house. Avery on the other hand left to go to the living room and do some studying, Karl had always had a bit of a crush on Avery and thought that this would be a perfect opportunity to get closer to her since she wouldn't be able to see him sneaking up on her.
