"According to your files, she is in the same class as you are, a miss Latisha Brown." the woman in scrubs named Tina told Lisa.
"Latisha? Really? I might have heard her name before..." Lisa mumbled.
"It's a two week rental, it ends almost a week after she returns from your senior class trip. She mentioned that she wanted to experience what it was like to be a caucasian woman."
"I see." Lisa answered. Lisa was surprised. She wasn't a racist, but she clearly didn't expect to switch lives with someone who was black. It would have been less unsettling if she didn't switch races. Staying inside this Latisha's life, would mean she probably would celebrate graduation differently while Latisha would take her trip to Mexico with Megan. That would mean she had to deal with Latisha enjoying her life and hanging out with Megan instead of her. "Well I guess I said yes before, so how does this work?
"It's pretty simple," the woman said, gesturing for Lisa to proceed into one of the small rooms off the hallway. "You'll need to change into the robe there, and we'll take your clothing over to Ms. Brown. Then, lie down on the chair in the center of the room and relax. At that point, we do all the work to make sure you have all of the information you'll need to live Ms. Brown's life for the next two weeks, and that people think you are her and vice versa. During the process, you'll be asleep. When you wake up, for the next two weeks, you will be Ms. Brown, and she'll be Lisa Hale. After that, you get dressed in the clothing she wore here, take the bus to her home, and spend the next two weeks being her while she vacations as you. There's a packet of information that we've compiled to help you live her life, just like the packet you helped us put together for her to live yours. Any questions?"
"You said I shouldn't talk to her about things... is there a reason?"
"For the most part, it's because it creates confusion. Also if other people over hear the conversation, it can get very awkward. Especially with your varying social backgrounds. Our general advice is to keep your interactions minimal. Of course with her taking your vacation, it shouldn't very difficult. Definitely something you should easily handle, I would reckon."
"Okay, that makes sense," Lisa said, neatly folding her clothes and settling down into the chair. "I guess I'm ready then."
