This choice: Unable to do anything, she just lays there in the sun. • Go Back...Chapter #6Rotting in the Sun by: Kilbil The blobby mush of pink tried ineffectually to move around or do anything, but it was a futile effort. A brain was useless without a body to control, and Mandy's brain was about as useless as they came.
All that poor little organ could do was rot, rot, rot away in the sun. Before long, the flies would come, and they would sing and rejoice at the feast that was brought before them. Mold would come looking for a home in the wrinkles, and fungi would bunk in with them as roommates. No one would notice the pink mush gradually turn purple, degrading bit by bit from being exposed to the open air
<I don't... Please... anyone... help me!>
Mandy tired and tried to call out for someone, anyone to notice. She was here, rotting away on the sidewalk, and no one seemed to care! Why didn't anyone come to pick up!? Why didn't anyone want to help her!?! Someone, anyone, please, do something!
But it was useless. Her mind gradually decayed, thoughts losing any and all cohesion and organization. Words and letters came to mean nothing other than a amalgamated collection of random shapes. Colors shifted here and there with wild abandon. Family, friends, all loved ones became nothing more than an indistinguishable soup.

All there was left of the person that was once Mandy was pure purple sludge. All the while, her body continued on as it was, oblivious to its newfound brainless existence. Although, would anyone really notice?
Really, you didn't know why Wendy felt the need to complain. No one ever came to her because of her smarts or her dazzling personality. No one cared about who she was, or what she wanted, or what memories or dreams she had to share. It was all nothing but filler, pure fluff that you struggled through during a long-running old-school shonen anime so you could get to the good stuff. All you really did was streamline her so more people could get to the good part quickly. There was no need for brain as long as you had looks.
All that mattered to you, really, was whether you were willing to end things here. Were you content to let Mandy rot to her death, or did you want to save her, just so she could see for herself just how little she really mattered to everyone around her. Either option sounded enticing to consider, but ultimately, you had to choose only one.
In the end, you decided... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
