Awake. You groan as you feel your head throbbing. You had been lying down on the ground, but your surroundings are unfamiliar. A strong scent of leather and oil overwhelms your senses.
The ground below you is soft, long strands of fabric stretch out around you. Pushing yourself upwards you try to figure out where you are. The strands of fabric are red, and as you stand you find yourself sink into them slightly. "Red grass?" You can't think of anywhere in town that red grass exists. Besides, it was the middle of summer.
Your confusion only continued as you looked up to see massive planks of wood stretching far upwards. Your voice catches in your throat as you realize, "A t-table?"
The scent of oiled leather takes hold of your attention again. The scent is familiar, but you can't place it. Until...
Below the table are several canisters of comically large shoe polish, along with several boxes the size of houses with logos scrawled on the side. They read... "Kicks."
Your analysis was complete; you were standing in a football field of a carpet at Kicks, the local shoe store. Having solved the first of your mysteries you hear a click from the front door, and as if to remove all doubt, a large black and white skunk steps into the empty store and closes the door behind them. Kicks, owner of the store Kicks.
Kicks was wearing his signature brown hat and brown suspenders, complete with dark brown boots that thumped heavily against the stone floor of the store as he moved to his workbench at the back of the store. You began to call out to him, but soon stopped as you realize that compared to Kicks you were not much larger than an insect. Even if your voice could carry to his ears, the sound of his boots as they came in contact with the ground were so loud and heavy that you have to steady yourself as they pass. You notice that you stand barely taller than the treads of the colossal brown boots.
As Kicks comes to stop in front of his workbench, you push yourself out from the large coils of red carpet. You realize you'll have to think of something quick or you might have to avoid more than just one pair of boots stomping around the store.
