Jack froze instantly. He could feel his heart starting to race again. Hannah was back. His feelings of euphoria suddenly turned into panic and desperation. What was he going to do? She was going to see him and then freak out and that would be no good for anyone. And how would he explain it? A magic button appeared at the door that granted his wishes? Even his girlfriend wouldn't believe that.
Of course, the apartment wasn't that big, so there was nowhere for him to go. As Jack heard the doorknob twisting open, the only action he could manage was hiding the button behind his wide back before the door flung open.
He heard the sound of Hannah's shoes making their way across the wood floor. As she walked into the room Jack was in, he braced himself for the reaction.
"Hey."
... What?
"Oh. Um... hey."
Now Jack's mind was racing even faster. This somehow made even less sense. Even if she had reacted well for whatever reason, he had expected her to... react. She seemed to be ignoring the fact that he was now some sort of giant super-bodybuilder. Why was that?
"What did you do while I was gone?"
Hannah's question snapped Jack out of his thoughts. If she was acting natural, well, he would have to as well until he figured out what was going on.
"Oh... the usual stuff. Sitting around, mostly."
Hannah let out that little giggle of hers that he loved to hear. "Well, you can't spend TOO much time sitting around, or you'll lose all that awesome bulk of yours."
Okay, he was getting more clues now. It wasn't like he was imagining his new size; she obviously saw it too. And yet she was still acting like it was completely normal...
... Wait, was his chair bigger?
Making sure Hannah wasn't looking (she was busy pulling various items out of her purse), Jack leaned over to get a better look at it. Yeah... it was definitely bigger. Probably big enough to completely fit his new size. Upon closer inspection, it was a bit nicer than the old chair as well.
But leaning in made Jack notice something else even more astonishing. The same picture as before was sitting on his desk... but next to the same-looking Hannah was the new, hulk-ified version of him. That picture had been taken months ago! Jack realized he had a lot more to learn about the mysterious button...
