"Yeah, it looks like you are healing up better," the doctor said to Max and her mother.
Currently, they were all looking at an x-ray in the doctor's office of Max's ankle. She had been playing basketball months prior. She went for a jump shot, and someone else ran into her making her fall wrong on her foot. This shattered her ankle to pieces and created a huge problem. After months of physical therapy, and even surgery, progress was coming along, but it was still certain that Max had to hang up her shoes and not play basketball anymore. She had a feeling about that from the start, but this didn't change her.
Max was still the same old tomboy with her loose fitting clothing, a black beanie, tan skin, and a slick attitude. However, over the last few months, since Max wasn't exercising like she used to, she had put on a few pounds. By a few, it was no more than ten. You could see a tiny hint of a double chin that was as minuscule as an ant in a kitchen. Some other parts of her body had gotten bigger from this, for example, her boobs, stomach, and arms. However, she was still in considerably decent shape.
"How much better does it look?" Max asked.
"We'll, you are to the point where you can now walk on it with no cautions of hurting your ankle any further. However, it is not the same as before," the doctor told her flat out.
"So can she play any sports? I know that winter basketball is starting up soon," her mother asked.
"Anyone can no matter what. However, if she does, she will be in major amounts of pain. She wouldn't be able to handle it," the doctor continued.
"So..... It's over?" Max asked.
"I'm afraid so. I can't sign you off to compete in these sports. It's for your own safety and health," the doctor said.
Immediately, Max looked down and cried a tear, but she quickly acted strong and held herself together.
"Thank you, Doctor. We will see you soon," her mother said soon enough as the appointment ended and they both walked out.
"I'm sorry, sweetie," Max's Mom said.
"It's okay. I just need to find a new hobby," Max said with a sigh.
"Well I know you will," she said as she hugged her daughter.
"Hey Mom, I am going to go to the mall if that's okay. Can you please drop me off there?" Max asked.
"Sure," her mother smiled.
After ten minutes of driving, they arrived at the mall as Max's Mom dropped her off and drove away. Max was happy to have the alone time to think thing through.
