The office gossip surrounding Victoria was at its peak. Each time she came in the office, she seemed even fatter. Most of the office either chuckled at her sight or was horrified that she might break some furniture. Alice was starting to shift from one of the gossipers to one of the worried coworkers. Victoria was putting on weight at such a fast pace and it didn't seem like it was slowing down. Alice was sure she'd plateau at some point, but in came a 380 pound Victoria the other day and broke her belt after eating one too many snacks. Of course Victoria blamed it on shoddy craftsmanship and continued to plow through her bag of chips.
Alice wanted to help Victoria without calling out her weight gain. Since Victoria still lived in a state of delusion in regards to her weight, Alice needed to be a bit more subtle. Alice got her inspiration after watching Victoria hit up the milkshake machine a few times during the work day.
"That's it!" Alice said to herself aloud. "I'll buy her some diet shake powder. The ones that suppress your appetite. That way she won't eat nearly as much!"
Alice ran off to the vitamin store after work to get her plan in motion. She walked the aisles until she found large tubs of powder. She did her research, looking carefully for the right powder to cut down on Victoria's ravenous hunger.
Before Alice could make her choice, she got a call from her best friend.
"Marie! What's up? We haven't talked in awhile" said Alice over the phone. "WHAT? NOOO WAY? NOOO! WAY!!"
Alice became preoccupied by Marie's story and in the process accidentally grabbed the weight gain powder instead. She didn't even double check at the counter as the clerk gave her a funny look. On the way out, Alice removed the label so as not to make it obvious to Victoria what she was doing. If she just paid enough attention to what she was doing and less on Marie she could have avoided a big mistake.
-------
"What's this?" said Victoria staring at an unlabeled black plastic container on her desk.
"It's a gift!" said Alice. "I recently tried some new milkshake mix and thought of you. Really thought you would enjoy it!"
"Aww, Alice! You didn't have to do that!"
"It's nothing. Now remember. Don't share that with anyone. That is yours."
"Woah it's a really big....and...heavy tub! That's a lot of powder. I better watch out or I'll get fat off this stuff!
"Not that you have to worry about your weight, but it's actually really low in calories. It's like some kind of magic elixir."
--------
Victoria tried her first shake and loved it. In fact she immediately went back for a second helping after her first. Alice felt accomplished, but little did she know what was to happen next.
"Come on pants! You...fit...earlier this week! I just bought you!" said Victoria to herself as she struggled to button her dress pants. On Monday this week, Victoria bought a new pair of dress pants that actually were kind of swimming on her. But by Friday, she struggled to get her rear end into those pants. Victoria blamed it on her dryer shrinking her clothes (which was happening a lot lately she noted).
It was painfully obvious that the weight gain shakes had impacted Victoria in a serious way. She walked into work that day with an unbuttoned pair of dress pants and a tight sweater to cover up her wardrobe mishap.
