The old gentleman had told it true, soon enough they could spot the shimmering roof of the temple in the distance, though blocked out of view more often than not by buildings or growth close to them. The hill obviously weren't that high, but still fairly distinct.
And as they approached their destination they noticed how the people in the street changed from normal to either religious variants, or either sickly or injured. With the odd one looking fairly normal amongst them standing out from the rest.
“Seems we're heading for the right place.” Amy said.
“Yeah, but none look as bad as Mandy. She said and held up the clay jar.”
“Hmm...About that, we haven't looked inside. What if it's empty?”
“Yeah, it does look a bit small...though the girl seemed too helpful to trick us like that.”
“Better make sure right?” Amy said and fiddled for her cellphone.
“I suppose we'd look really silly showing up with an empty jar, even if the kind of healing we're looking for still seems quite far fetched.” Beth agreed and worked open the lid to have a look inside.
To both the girls surprise there was a brown lump in it, but it was too small to call a turd, being only somewhat larger than a golf-ball.
Then Amy surprised Beth by producing her phone and taking a couple of pictures of the jar and its contents.
“What did you do that for?”
“I figured that if this works Mandy would like a picture of herself.” Amy said realising that if it didn't work out that this would be the last pictures of her friend. “A shame I forgot to take pictures of the girl that did this to her.” She added, she'd hardly gotten a good look at the girl herself, having been to busy chasing her.
“Al-right” Beth nodded looking down at the remains of Mandy one last time. The smell wasn't that potent, but still there and distinct for the type of material it consisted of, so Beth put the lid back on and made sure to fasten it properly. “Let's hope this works.” She said and started walking towards the hill again.
And it was soon apparent what the people had said about the quacks around the place, many were quite blatant, while others were smooth talkers selling potions and whatnot and some again horribly convincing, but they weren't even at the foot of the hill yet, so the girls figured that they should continue on.
