Administration is your favourite part of the job, and something you don't get to enjoy nearly enough. Jacking directly into the servers grants you admin status and privelages, manifesting as the ability to rewrite almost aspect of the sims while in them, ostensibly for the purpose of getting the users out of trouble or enhancing their experience. There is little you can't change or do - the maps can be remolded with a wave of your hand, avatars can be edited or swapped out entirely, AI characters can be deleted, added, or possessed. If you wish it, you can become invisible, fly with ease, or noclip, allowing you to walk through walls. The simulation can be sped up or slowed to a crawl. One of the most useful abilities is the Narrator Voice. The Narrator Voice, when activated, allows you give a command to any character, both AI or player, and they will be forced to obey it, whether they want to or not. Intended to move along stalled narratives or railroad players towards particular choices, it is particularly handy in the VR D&D sessions you GM every Friday night when dealing with the invariably unruly, rebellious party members.
In essence, the administrator is God within the simulation, and the computer works to incorporate this as seamlessly as possible, so as to maintain the suspension of disbelief for the players. Should the world have a mythology, it will strive to insert the admin as the Supreme Being and Creator or as a member of the pantheon of gods and goddesses. More mundane sims have more mundane admins. Military sims usually have you playing as a field marshal or admiral, historical sims as one of the powerful leaders of the age.
