This choice: "I'll let you stay here with your superpowers." • Go Back...Chapter #7Stuck as a Superheroine by: Cardio   "Is that supposed to make me feel better? The idea of being stuck like...this!" Nate said motioning to his spandex clad body.
"Well...yeah, it could be worse. You could be like me, in this world it felt like almost every day I was in some sort of trouble be it from bank robbers, earthquakes, or super villains. But you get to be a superhero and make a difference in people's lives. I know you don't think of them as real, but I do, they're my friends and neighbors and I'd like you to protect them. Do you think you can do that for me?" Becky said continuing to fiddle with menus.
Was that a threat or am I just being paranoid. Nate thought to himself but decided not to think too much about it, "You're not giving me much of a choice, but yeah, I guess I can do that."
"Great, I'll help you out just a bit more before I leave." Becky said and with a few clicks to the menus Becky and Nate were transported into a small apartment. "Okay, it looks like this is your place, or atleast the place of your secret identities." Becky said finally closing the menus and looking at Nate, "One last thing, I've given you some low level acess to the menus so that you can familiarize yourself with the world and your current self. But don't get any funny ideas, if the program thinks you are digging to deep you'll be locked out permanently." With that said Becky gave you a wave and said, "I'll see you when I see you." And with that she disappeared to take over Nate's body in the real world.
"If I see you again." Nate said grimly and then shook his head, "No, I'll get out of here. Soon. She didn't seem like a liar I think. No, I shouldn't be thinking about that, I should just get used to this life for now. Hey computer, will you acknowledge me now?"
A screen popped up saying, Yes.
"Great, now can you tell me anything about me, I mean, this body."
Pretty soon pages upon pages of info had popped up, Nate started reading at the beginning.
You are currently in the form of Natalia Hart aka Nano Nurse. Natalia acquired her superpowers from an accidental injection of specialize medical nanobots a month ago that helped cure her of an unknown disease. Not only did the nanobots heal Natalia it granted her super regenerative powers that also allow her super strength and speed in short bursts. Nano-Nurse's signatures include the Fist of Love, Grappling Gauze, and the Healing Kiss. Although her favorite thing to do is to use her enhanced strength to do super jumping that gives the illusion of flight.
"Well I guess that explains the flying first time I saw her. All right computer, what else have you got?"
Natalia is currently attending Big City College, but as it is summer break she is currently working as a secretary for her boyfriend the psychiatrist Dr. Wilder.
"Boyfriend? Yeah right. Looks like somebody is getting a dear John letter tomorrow." Nate snickered to himself as he kept reading.
Dr. Wilder is also the alter ego of Nano-Nurse's arch nemesis Dr. Hypnosis who uses the power of Hypnosis against her. His origins are not accessible to you.
"...or maybe I won't break up with him. Don't need to make a super villain any more angry than need be. But wait, why the hell would Natalia go out with this guy if she knows he's evil?"
Natalia hopes to somehow use her regenerative powers to heal Dr. Hypnosis' broken mind.
"That's healthy. But wait another second, if they are arch enemy's how come this doctor guy can't figure out that Nano-Nurse and Natalia aren't the same person? This isn't exactly a great costume for hiding a secret identity." Nate said again referring to his pink spandex that didn't leave too much to the imagination.
Natalia transforms into her Nano-Nurse form by saying the key phrase, 'Heal my Heart' and to turn back to Natalia she must say, 'My Heart is Mended'
"Of all the stupid...fine, let's try this. My heart is mended." Suddenly there was a flash and Nate now found himself not wearing spandex, but a very respectable businesswoman's skirt, shirt, and jacket. Nate turned to a mirror and also noticed this his hair was now pinned up in a bun and he also spotted..."Glasses. Of course. Put on a pair of glasses and nobody can recognize you. Why not, it's like the 10th weirdest thing that's happened today, I can deal with that."
Pages upon pages of info kept popping up but Nate had seemingly had enough, "All right all right, thanks but I'll read the rest later. I'm just going to try to roll with the punches for a little while. But for now I just need to get some sleep. It's been a long day." Nate said as he pushed away the menus. He stripped off his clothes and climbed into bed when he just looked down at his new body in it's undergarment glory. Out of curiosity Nate gaze his chest a quick little squeeze. Nate jumped a little, "I know it's not, but it sure as hell feels real to me. And I guess while I'm here I just have to live like it is real." Nate took off the glasses and put them beside the bed, "Man I hope Becky gets back soon." Nate said to himself as he shut his eyes and drifted off to sleep.   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
