Yet another boring day. 8:36am. Commuting to work. Wednesday. Gridlock. Traffic barely moving. Grumbling, fidgeting, swearing at other road users. A typical commute in the city. You listened to the radio as you waited behind a bus un/loading passengers at a stop. It was playing yet another song from some band that would be forgotten by next year. ''Fucking shit! Sounds like a cat being strangled!'' You shouted angrily whilst leaning down to change station. As you searched through the wave bands you heard a brief news report. Something about portals, vanishing vehicles & people and army being sent in... 'Sounds boring. Like the War of the worlds fiasco of 1938 when narrated by Orson Welles. People actually believed that was real!' You smirked at the thought of panic over a well narrated play. Little did you know the report was not a play, it was very real and you would soon find out yourself.
Just as you reached a channel you liked a blinding light poured in through the windscreen. You gasped and looked up. The light was a brilliant white and hurt your eyes. You covered your face and screamed. You was expecting there to a brief loud bang as the truck smashed into your car and crush it like a empty drinks can. But the bang never came, as the light was no truck but a portal whisking you and the surrounding traffic away to a strange new world. There was a loud whoosh and then you passed out. You awaken to find yourself and car in...
