Chapter #4

Tending the Desk

    by: DashingDarkness Author IconMail Icon
"I was wondering if you could help out at the front desk. Only for an hour, of course -- Cherise is taking her break." Ruthie said, her calming smile ever present on her lips. She wasn't malicious by any means - Rex knew that their business was running rather slowly and they were currently short on funds, thus instead of hiring more people she simply had Rex help carry some of the load. When he wasn't out pickpocketing during the day he mostly helped out during the night, tending the front desk, cleaning rooms, et cetera, and occasionally he was to please a female patron if she asked for him specifically, although that didn't happen particularly often.

"Sure, I suppose. I wasn't planning on doing anything else today." He shrugged, polishing off the last of his whiskey before placing his mug on the counter with the dirty dishes - thankfully it wasn't his turn to do them today.

"Thanks dear." Ruthie smiled as he walked out. Rex wandered down the hall before emerging from the door behind the front desk. He noticed Cherise there, helping another customer. He stood back against the wall and waited for her to finish before speaking to her.

"Mother says you can take your break, I'll cover you." He said. Cherise looked at him and smiled, making Rex's heart melt. Out of all of his sisters, the eighteen year old girl was definitely the one people called the cutest. Her bright blonde locks curled in front of her, resting on her ample D-cup chest. She was otherwise very petite, standing a tad shorter than Rex and much thinner, she still was curvy enough to whet men's desires.

"Aw, thanks Rex. I'll get some rest now." She said, leaving through the back door. Rex smiled once more and took her place at the counter, propping his elbow on the wood and waiting for a customer. As soon as his elbow touched down with the oak, the bell over the door rang, and Rex looked up to see the patron.
