...a pretty handsome, gentlemanly boy.
Regina didn't know what to say which was really unlike her. Normally, she knew exactly what to say, but she didn't hold back and said exactly what she thought, even if it was sometimes a bit mean towards somebody. She has a big (sometimes too big) mouth, but at least she was honest to others. But now she still looked at the boy like a hypnotized bunny. She got a feeling, like two pieces clicked together. She still held the hand of the boy.
"Thank you, but I would like to have my hand back."
It took sometime before Regina's brain understood what he asked. Then, she quickly let go of his hand.
"Can I sit here?" He asked polite pointing against the seat across her.
Regina got herself under enough control to nod slowly and looked at the boy. She’d never seen any boy like him. In 21 years she had met enough boys. In elementary school, she hung out with a lot of boys, since boys liked it that a girl could fart so loudly then. However, they were just friends. At high school, she also talked with some boys. Of course, she also sometimes saw a boy she thought looked handsome, but it was nothing compared to what she felt now. She never really had a relationship and wasn't really sure what to do. Normally, she knew exactly what to say and now at an important moment she couldn't say a word.
"Do I have something on my shirt?" He asked friendly.
"Eh... no." Regina managed to say.
"Then why are looking at me?" He asked still friendly like he was just curious.
"Eh, I haven't seen you before. Are you new here?" She asked and wanted to hit herself afterward. What a stupid question. Hundreds of people used the bus every day. She didn't know all those people. To be honest, she hardly knew any people on the bus. Perhaps that old lady that lived at the end of the street and a girl from school.
"I am new here. I just moved. My name is Marcus Smith. May I know your name?"
"Eh... of course. My name... Eh what's my name again." She hoped he didn't think she was a idiot that didn't know her own name.
"My name is eh... Barriga. Regina Barriga." She managed to say and smiled.
"What a nice name." He said politely. "It suits you. Do you also have a nickname?"
Regina looked a bit nervous at the boy. He seemed really nice and friendly. She did have a nickname but she wasn't sure if she wanted to tell him that. Normally, she used that nickname around her friends, but she didn’t want to start this introduction with a lie.
"Yeah, I have one. My friends call me ‘hot and spicy gut’, since I like hot and spicy food. I love food."
"I can see that. Happy too. I hate girls who diet. Say Regina... I planned to look around in the mall, but I've never been to the mall here, so do you mind going with me? Perhaps you can show me around."
Regina suddenly felt like she was on fire. She wanted this so badly. She just hoped she would be able to answer.
