Before David could swap his, or rather now Jamie's member back to him, Jamie's phone began to ring, breaking David's concentration.
"Sorry, I have to take this, it's my work." Jamie apologized.
"It's okay, I understand how much you your job." David retorted, slightly uneasy. He knew how much she valued her part-time job since it was in the same field of work she was planning on going to college for, but he still planned on returning what was his.
"Hello? Is everything alright?" Jamie asked worriedly.
David looked on as Jamie's expression sank. He really began to think that the phone call might be something more serious now.
"She was what?!" asked Jamie, her voice dripping with disbelief. "Oh my God, I'll be there as soon as I can!" she said, hanging up the phone.
"What's going on?" David asked, now almost equally worried about his sister's predicament as he was about retrieving his misplaced goods.
"My co-worker just got hit by a car!" Jamie cried, her face visibly distressed. "She's in the hospital right now, I'm sorry to have to cut this short, but I need to go right now." Jamie apologized once more, as she hurriedly grabbed her bag and headed towards the door.
David tried to quickly swap them back before she left and...
