As far back as she can remember, Amanda always wanted to be an actress; she had started in preschool and kindergarten plays before getting roles in community performances, next came commercial parts (over the years, Amanda had moved from the background girl a Cool Kids ice-cream bar advertisement to the lead irresponsible teen in an insurance advertisement). Most recently, she had been doing minor roles in TV shows, and although the shows she never had more than a single season, a few critics had praised her performance. Amanda assumed that she’d have to study acting in college before getting any significant roles in the movies. Therefore Amanda was amazed when her phone began to ring one afternoon.
“Hello?” Amanda called into her phone.
“Is this Amanda Brown?” A voice on the other line asked.
“Speaking,” Amanda told the voice.
“Ms. Brown, my name is Eugene Jones, and I represent Enchanted Pictures company, and we think we have a role for you in our next movie.”
“Really?” Amanda inquired, a little surprised.
“Yes,” Eugene told the teenager, “we want you to star in our next picture entitled….”
