Kennadi moved through the aisles of the store, stretching while she moved. Gina, her boss, was right next to her as she moved.
"So we're clearing out this basement?" Kennadi questioned. "Didn't even know we had one!"
"Me neither, until Dan came and told me about it." Gina responded. "Hell, the previous owner of this place didn't even know! I had to call in the previous, previous owner to get a shred of knowledge about it."
The duo arrived at the back of the store. A door, colored to the point it almost blended into the wall, was slightly ajar. Gina opened the door wide and began to walk down the stairs, Kennadi following in suit.
Gina sifted through her pocket and pulled out a surgical mask, putting it over her face, Gina gave a second one to Kennadi. The employee followed the movement of her boss.
"Alright, we don't know what's down here, so be careful of any fungi or dust or any other harmful things." Gina responded. Arriving at the bottom of the stairs, the girls came upon another door. Gina clasped the handle and opened it.
And inside was....
A completely sterile looking room. The duo's eyebrows shot up in confusion. Hesitatingly, Gina pulled down her mask and sniffed the air.
"It.. seems good." Gina called out. "But there is a faint whiff of.. fertilizer I believe."
Walking in, the pair looked over the interior. Rows of shelves with jars full of...something filled each level. A small desk was located in a far corner, though cleaned entirely out. Gina scratched her head.
"They were raising plants here? Weird place for a nursery. Let's look around and see what we could do about all this."
Kennadi nodded and began to go over the shelves. She absentmindedly took a jar and screwed off the cap. Looking down into the jar, the contents of it was a surprisingly normal looking jam. It was clean like it came from the store yesterday.
Kennadi pulled her mask down a little, allowing her nose to take in the aroma of the jam. Her eyes widened, she quickly placed her finger in and took a dip of the jam. She savored the taste, it was great.
"Yum." Kennadi spoke. "Hey Gina, this jam is rocking!"
"Don't eat anymore of that!' Her boss cried out. "Its been down here for ten years;even if this place looks clean, who knows what was brewing down here!"
Kennadi nodded, but a part of her really loved the taste of the spread. Grape flavored deliciousness.
