Sister Mary Ruth knelt on the floor of her small cell, hands folded and head bowed in prayer. The bed was neatly made, if somewhat uncomfortable. The long black folds of her robe did little to cushion her tender knees against the hard wooden floor. Head bowed and hands folded, she offered up her voice to the Almighty. She finished her daily conversation with god and crossed herself, and put her hands to the bed to push herself up to a standing position. As she did so, a metallic glint caught her eyes.
